Dr. Ndidi Musa on building critical care capacity for children.

Today we’re getting under the hood with Dr. Ndidi Musa a mother, sister, professor and physician who is board certified in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. She is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington and a Pediatric Cardiac intensivist at Seattle Children’s Hospital. In addition, she is an executive coach and is the Director of the newly established Internal Coaching Program for the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington.Ndidi has been working as a Pediatric Cardiac intensivist for over 25 years. She has refocused her academic career in global health to give back to resource limited settings where she had trained. Ndidi trained Pediatric Intensivists in Ethiopia and mentored others who have now become Pediatric intensivists in Ghana. She was instrumental along with colleague in building a pediatric emergency care and critical care training program in Kenya that now trains Pediatric emergency and critical care physicians in sub-Saharan Africa. Her work in building pediatric critical care capacity in resource limited settings led to her being inducted as a fellow into the prestigious American College of Critical Care Medicine.Her passion and long-standing commitment to enhancing delivery of critical care to infants and children in resource limited regions of the world has involved teaching early recognition of the critically ill child through various courses.
