    Dr. Tiffany Troso on What 25 Years in Oncology Taught Her About What Patients Need

    Today we’re marching for change with Dr. Tiffany Troso-Sandoval a mother, daughter, sister and a board certified medical oncologist with more than 25 years of experience caring for women with cancer at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Trained at Princeton and Cornell, she founded Winning the Cancer Journey LLC to support, educate, and guide female oncology patients through their health journeys. As Chief Medical Officer at Second Look LLC, Dr. Troso also provides virtual medical oncology opinions to patients with breast and gynecological cancers. Dr. Troso-Sandoval discovered that taking extra time to educate her patients— often considered inefficient in the medical field—taught her what patients actually need from their oncologist. The result is her forthcoming book, Calming the Cancer Chaos: An Oncologist&apos;s Guide for Women to Understand, Organize, and Take Control of Their Cancer Care (September 2026). Dr. Troso is also a keynote speaker, expert medical-legal witness, host of The Empowered Cancer Patient Podcast, and an editorial advisor for Women’s Health. Her work has spanned the U.S. and Latin America, covering women&apos;s health, sexual and reproductive health, infectious disease, health equity, and community engagement.Ashlei is also the creator and host of Public Health Uncensored, a podcast launching this fall in partnership with the National Public Health Coalition.     A Lifetime Fighting for Health & Human Rights with Dr. Alicia Ely Yamin

    Today we’re marching for change with Alicia Ely Yamin, JD, MPH PhD, a mother, daughter, sister, women’s advocate, a Lecturer on Law and Senior Fellow at the Petrie-Flom Center at Harvard Law School, where she directs the Global Health and Rights Project. Yamin currently teaches at Harvard Medical School as well as Harvard Law School. She is the founding editor of the multi-disciplinary Brill/Nijhoff series, “Global Health, Human Rights and Social Justice.” Yamin has held distinguished visitorships at a variety of universities around the world, and is known globally for her inter-disciplinary work in relation to economic and social rights, reproductive justice, the right to health, and the intersections between development paradigms, political economy and human rights.But she is not just an academic.  Yamin has lived in Latin America and East Africa for much of her professional life and worked with local advocacy organizations, including co- founding a program on health and human rights in Peru. In the United States, Yamin served as Director of Research and Investigations at Physicians for Human Rights, Senior Advisor to Amnesty International in its Global Campaign on Poverty, Demand Dignity, and Senior Adviser on Human Rights and Health Policy at Partners In Health. She is now on the coordinating committee of the all-volunteer Defend Public Health, which was established when the second Trump Administration came into office.In 2016, Yamin was appointed by the UN Secretary General as one of ten international experts to the Independent Accountability Panel for Women&apos;s, Children&apos;s and Adolescents&apos; Health in the Sustainable Development Goals (2016-2018, reappointed 2018-2020). She served as chief consultant to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and drafter of the first guidance on a ‘human rights-based approach to health’ to be adopted by the UN Human Rights Council in 2012, which related to maternal health.Yamin has served on numerous other UN, WHO and other expert committees on global health. But her work is notable for how it uses the law as well. As a specialist in international and comparative law relating to health and sexual and reproductive rights issues, Yamin regularly submits Amicus Curiae briefs and provides expert testimony to tribunals around the globe. In 2011, Yamin was named by the Colombian Constitutional Court as an Independent Expert on the implementation of T-760/08, a structural judgment that led to significant health system reform.     Marching to Be Heard | Dr. Cheruba Prabakar on Fibroids, Advocacy & Women’s Health

    Today, we are Marching for Change with Dr. Triparna Sen, a scientist, leader, mentor, and global advocate, a daughter, a woman in science, and a force in translational cancer research whose work is redefining how we understand and treat lung cancer.Dr. Sen is a tenured Professor and Max Morehouse Chair in Cancer Research in the Division of Medical Oncology at The Ohio State University, where she also serves as Associate Director of Research and Director of the Lung Cancer Preclinical Therapeutic Platform. A scientist at the intersection of discovery and clinical impact, she has built a globally recognized research program focused on the biology of lung cancer, therapeutic resistance, and the identification of actionable vulnerabilities that can be rapidly translated into better outcomes for patients.Her work has transformed the field of small cell lung cancer. Dr. Sen was among the first to establish DNA damage response pathways as critical therapeutic targets in this disease, demonstrating that their inhibition not only suppresses tumor growth but also activates antitumor immunity through innate immune signaling. She has also led pioneering efforts to uncover how non small cell lung cancer evolves into small cell lung cancer under treatment pressure, a major clinical challenge, laying the foundation for new therapeutic strategies. Her discoveries have directly informed multiple clinical trials and biomarker driven approaches, shaping how we think about combination therapies and precision medicine in lung cancer.With more than 80 high impact publications and sustained funding from NIH NCI, Department of Defense, Lung Cancer Research Foundation, and IASLC, Dr. Sen is a leading voice in translational oncology. She serves as a Board Member of IASLC and has held key leadership roles across major international conferences, including conference co chair and program committee member across multiple global meetings.Beyond the lab and clinic, Dr. Sen is deeply committed to mentorship, building teams, and creating pathways for the next generation of scientists and physician leaders.     Dr. Rachel Elfenbein: The Hidden Economy, Women, Labor, and the Cost of Care

    Today we’re marching for change with Dr Rachel Elfenbein a mother, daughter, sister, women’s advocate and a sociologist, writer, researcher, educator, organizational capacity builder, policy advocate, and community organizer. She currently serves as the executive director of the Pennsylvania Alliance for Retired Americans, the retiree arm of the AFL-CIO, which advocates for retirement security for all workers in the U.S. Rachel led successful resident-based organizing and advocacy for affordable housing policies and programs in Washington State, including the establishment of the first community land trust for permanently affordable homes for working-class people in eastern Washington, Common Roots Housing Trust. Rachel holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Simon Fraser University, where she was elected departmental steward and later chair of the Teaching Support Staff Union. Her doctoral dissertation was published by University of Texas Press as the book, Engendering Revolution: Women, Unpaid Labor, and Maternalism in Bolivarian Venezuela. Rachel was a Fulbright Scholar to Venezuela and was awarded the Latin American Studies Association’s 2018 Helen Safa Award for research featured in Engendering Revolution. Prior to completing her Ph.D., she ran participatory education, research, and organization-building programs around public health and human rights issues with workers, unions, and community organizations in southern Africa. At the same time, she began experiencing confusing physical and emotional changes that were dismissed by multiple doctors. She later learned that she was in perimenopause, and the timing collided with a challenging chapter at work. An ADHD diagnosis later in life provided even deeper clarity, revealing she had been navigating symptoms without language, support, or understanding for years.These experiences opened her eyes to how many women are dismissed or misdiagnosed, left to struggle in silence, and forced to figure out midlife on their own. Determined to change that, Jen earned a menopause coaching certification, not to take clients, but to deepen her knowledge so she could better educate, validate, and advocate for women who deserve answers. She was 2nd in the world in the women&apos;s physique division and retired from the industry at 27 to explore another side of herself.  She followed her curiosity and dove deep into the world of spirituality, plant medicine, and self discovery.
