Drawing From the Center of the Universe

The destruction of the Beit Hamikdash and the story of Purim reveal that true simcha comes from the revelation of the Infinite Light, which cannot be contained in this world and therefore requires a vessel through which it can be experienced. The downfall of the ten sons of Haman in a single moment reflects the unity of this Infinite Light overpowering forces that opposed the rebuilding of the Temple and the joy it represents. Creation itself was formed through a ray of Divine light drawn into an empty space, with Jerusalem as the central point where this light is most revealed, and the Foundation Stone as its channel into the world. Even in exile, this light can be accessed through connection to tzaddikim, whose spiritual power reflects the light of the Beit Hamikdash, which is why their passing is considered comparable to its destruction.
