“Dream for the Future” By Steve AdamsOne of my goals last year was rebuilding the desktop PC that I use for both work and enjoyment. This was the third generation of high-end PCs I have built and it is named Blackbird 003 after the legendary Lockheed SR-71. As I admired my new creation this weekend, I realized that what started my path in engineering nearly 48 years ago was a book that I bought detailing that majestic aircraft. For a farm boy in the 1970s, finding any information on cutting edge anything was a challenge at best, but that book and the dreams that it created in me, led to an amazing career that has taken me around the world and has contributed to the many wonderful people I have met along the way. It wasn’t an individual or an institution that made this country special, it was the spirit, imagination and drive of people like YOU and ME and those who came before us.
