    "Over Africa" by Steve Adams

"Over Africa" by Steve AdamsAfter a day’s layover, we boarded the 747 in Frankfurt for the overnight trip to Johannesburg.  By now, I was a seasoned traveler, so the trip was exciting, but I was also anxious about what to expect in South Africa.  I knew so little about the continent, but I had high expectations of semi-arid savannah and exotic wildlife. The flight out of Germany was uneventful as I ate the evening meal.  Soon after, I settled in and enjoyed the view of city lights inching past us some 35,000 feet below.  I dozed off and awoke sometime later to resume my night time scenery watching.Instead of the lights of civilization, there were only moonlit, rolling clouds lit by occasional, distant flashes of lightning. There, suspended in the quiet dark high over Africa, an old song crept into my mind. I found myself smiling in the dark, quietly blessing the rains down in Africa—some of life's best adventures begin simply by looking out the window.Support the show#Political/Conservative/Judeo/Christian/Constitutional

August 20 Queers for Palestine and Their Own Death

August 20 Queers for Palestine and Their Own DeathA few years ago, there was a television sitcom, Just Shoot Me. Seems like a strange name for a sitcom, but I think we have another name for Just Shoot Me. "Queers for Palestine." That is, the homosexual community is supporting Palestine in Palestine's fight against Israel. Don't American queers know what happens to queers in Palestine? Maybe they haven't been watching the news. In Islamic countries, queers are killed. But that isn't just in Arab countries. Last week in Berlin, a car driven by an Islamist drove through a crowd of homosexuals, killed two, and injured several more. Christians are being pilloried for asking homosexuals to leave their destructive lifestyle and embrace Jesus. But in Islam, they simply kill them. August 19 Social Insecurity at 67

August 19 Social Insecurity at 67In 1983, Congress passed a law that official retirement age will be 67 and that will begin this November. A lot of people are upset with that because they want to retire sooner than that. As for me, I'm 82 and I still work full time. Why? Because I love my job and my clients, my clients love me, and this is fun. But the thing is, Social Security ran out of money long ago. Congress has been using the funds there as their slush fund. And we've been using our retirement money for every stupid thing we could think of because it was there. But I do feel bad for those who have to wait to age 67 because we didn't have to wait. And even though we're putting off retirement until age 67, the Social Security Trust Fund is still pretty much bankrupt. Sponsored by the Caylor Financial Planning Group in Lynchburg, Virginia. August 18 Men are not women

August 18 Men are not womenIn the 1970s and on into the 1980s, the world was astounded and disgusted to learn that East Germany was using men in the women's competitions at the Olympics. Those men were given female hormones so that they would grow breasts and take on features of women, but they were still men. And they were winning gold medals as women. It was decided that all athletes would be checked for their chromosomes. Were they XX or XY? We discovered that the women were actually men. Common sense took over back then. We knew that God didn't design women to compete against men. So why is it that we have to go back again for such a fundamental and easy choice? And why would sane people even give an audience to those who disagree with this fundamental thing?! Sponsored by the Caylor Financial Planning Group in Lynchburg, Virginia? August 17 Apathetic Christians killing America

August 17 Apathetic Christians killing America95% of voting-age Muslims in America vote. 25% of voting-age Christians in America vote. What does that say about Christians? What does that say about Muslims? Tragically, a whole lot. Muslims care about bringing about Sharia, which will essentially ban Christianity, and our Judeo-Christian culture altogether. It will ban our Constitution. And it shows that Muslims deeply care about their faith. Christians, on the other hand, are condemned for their lack of interest in their country, in their faith, in evangelism, and basically being Salt and Light. Smug, arrogant, apathetic Christians, and their arrogant, cowardly pastors, not Muslims, not Islamic imams, will be the death of America. "Surprise Repair" by Steve Adams

"Surprise Repair" by Steve AdamsA few weeks ago, I received a call from a longtime friend. He knows I am an engineer, and he had an old radio that had stopped working. It wasn't just any radio; it was a meticulously designed, high-end piece of equipment that had been silent for years. In the 1980's and 1990's people around the world paid $1,400 for each unit! His plan was to order a new amplifier and replace the original board, but I cautioned him about the challenge of matching custom speakers of a vintage design. Within a few hours, I had identified a suitable replacement, and we got together in his shop to install it. The moment we fired up the radio, it produced sound again, the air in the room seemed to change. On the way home, I reflected some. Helping him restore that radio combined 40 years of engineering experience into a deeply rewarding afternoon. We all have skills that, when used to serve others, pay off in surprising ways. A few days later, your host, George Caylor, excitedly called to tell me how amazing his Bose Acoustic Wave System sounded.Support the show#Political/Conservative/Judeo/Christian/Constitutional

August 12 Divide and destroy America

August 12 Divide and destroy AmericaWhat would you think if your house was being invaded and you were told by the police that you were not allowed to stop it? That's pretty much what happened in Texas. Millions of illegals were sweeping over the Mexican border into Texas and Texas was told by the Biden administration that that was a national issue and that Texas had no right to interfere. When one side of America seeks enforcement of laws and the other seeks non-enforcement, it's a dangerous situation for any republic. So we have a political movement that views the law as an obstacle rather than a framework to be respected. And when ideology becomes more important than law, the system weakens. The country weakens. A constitutional republic can't survive if public officials reserve the authority to decide for themselves what laws deserve obedience and which don't.Brought to you by Caylor Financial Services, thecaylorrgroup.com. Smithsonian lies about history

August 11 Smithsonian LiesMillions of Americans have enjoyed the Smithsonian Institute for portraying the history of America. But that's no longer there with portraying history. It's now the politically correct false history of America. Mr. Trump is tired of that because the Smithsonian Institute is advancing an activist agenda that divides Americans by race, gender, immigration status, and nationality. And it demonizes the principles of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. That's not history. It's part of Biden's "build-back-better" routine. The Smithsonian Institute doesn't celebrate what's good about America. It pounds the drum on how America is oppressive.  Smithsonian's story is one of regret, tragedy, and shame. August 10 Doubling down on Failure

August 10 Doubling down on FailureSome tactics that seem like idiocy to conservatives are actually used on liberals. For instance, defenders have failed policies no longer have to prove success. They merely have to convince enough people that fixing the failure would be morally offensive. In business, we call that doubling down on failure. If a product loses money year after year, we fix it. We eliminate it. We don't say we hate our customers because they object to our product. Yet government operates under that exact logic. Failure becomes evidence that even more money and even more authority are needed. Government grows rapidly when emotions are high because every attempt at reform is portrayed as cruelty even when they've demonstrably failed at the very purpose for which they were created. "Model Rockets" by Steve Adams

Model RocketsBack where I grew up, my old shop in the barn still reminds me of something out of an Indiana Jones movie.  Today, it is filled with cobwebs and inventions from 50 years ago, but in the early 80’s, it was amazing. The neighborhood kids and I used to organize capture the flag events with as many as 20 kids.  My shop served as a “Command Center” where my friend and I used maps and radios to track the battle.  One day, I hatched this plan to add Estes Rockets to the game.Using old TTL Logic chips, I built a Ground Launch Sequencer to automatically launch the rocket after my friend and I simultaneously turned our Launch Keys and the sequencer reached 0 on the countdown.  If the rocket landed close to someone in the battle, they were out of the game.Today, I use the old sequencer as a prop when I talk to school classes, but, back then, the device was a novelty that was most certainly not inspired by either TikTok or AI!Brought to you by Caylor Financial Services.   thecaylorgroup.comSupport the show#Political/Conservative/Judeo/Christian/Constitutional

    August 5 SCOTUS Liberal Loonies

August 5 SCOTUS Liberal LooniesThere's roughly 4.13 billion women in the world, and those of child-bearing age are all eligible to come to the United States and have a baby who will automatically be eligible for welfare benefits, paid education, and can vote in our elections. Those moms can take the kids back to China, North Korea, Russia, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, wherever, and teach them to hate America. And those kids can become President of the United States just because they were born in America. One in ten babies last year was born to an illegal immigrant. How did this happen, and why judges we thought were conservative aren't anymore? For instance, John Roberts became a left-wing lunatic the day he was sworn in, because he does what his wife tells him to do. His wife is a left-wing liberal lunatic. August 4 America's unelected tyrants

August 4 America's unelected tyrantsJames Madison is the father of the Constitution because of his pivotal role in drafting, promoting, and shaping the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights. But after 1803, the U.S. Constitution was overthrown by a single court opinion, which ended the Founders' design of three co-equal branches. And it established the only unelected branch of government as a superior branch of government. So for the last 223 years, partisan political operatives and their 501s and their NGOs have used this unconstitutional power of the courts to overrule all elected officials and overthrow the People's Republic. Our country is run by nine unelected partisan political ponies, not the people we elected.Brought to you by Caylor Financial Services.   thecaylorgroup.comSupport the show#Political/Conservative/Judeo/Christian/Constitutional

August 3 Death of the DNC

August 3 Death of the DNCThe party of slavery, the KKK, is currently being put to death by global communists and socialists in the 2026 U.S. elections. As conservative voters are busy primarying and getting rid of fake Republicans in the GOP, communist voters are busy primarying everyone who isn't a committed communist in the DNC. By the November general elections, the stark contrast between the two primary political parties in the U.S. will be glaringly obvious and undeniable. MAGA Republicans will have regained control of America's conservative party, life, liberty, justice, and the American way. But the DNC will have been finished off by the global communists and socialists currently pounding the final nails into the coffin of the DNC. Brought to you by Caylor Financial Services.   thecaylorgroup.comSupport the show#Political/Conservative/Judeo/Christian/Constitutional

    July 26 Iran VS Civilization

July 26 Iran VS CivilizationHello, I'm George Caylor, TeaWithGeorge.com, and today's session of Get Real is with my old friend John Vassar. John Vassar is a demographer, and that is he looks at the big picture and the intricacies of the big picture and how each detail affects every other detail. He has a special kind of brain. He's also a military strategist, and even though he's old, not as old as I am, but he's old, he and others like him never quite retire from that. And today I would like to talk to him about what's going on in Iran. Good morning, John. Good morning, George. It's a pleasure to be here, and as your audience knows, I'm John Vassar, and if you disagree with me in any way, shape, or form, you're probably right. My opinions are my own, and they're the correct opinions.I disagree with you a couple of times, and then I looked it up afterwards, and I discovered you were right. I want to talk about Iran. I was mentioning demography before. The military action in Iran is affecting the world, even though that's just one little place there that's affecting the entire world. Why are we fighting with the people of Iran? What's going on there? We're not actually fighting with the people of Iran. We're fighting with a very small minority of the population that is keeping the majority of Persians, good people, including the Kurds, under their thumb. The Persians are traditionally the allies of the West, and especially have a close, close working relationship with the Jews that goes back thousands of years. We're only at war with certain foreign influences that have taken over the country. The IRGC, for example, the Revolutionary Guard Corps that's currently running the country right now, and over and above the civil authorities that are in civil government that we're negotiating with.Iran is important to us. One respect is the fact that the major reason we engaged them was because they were developing an atomic weapon that they had said they were going to use on Israel and us. They declared war on us around 1980, repeatedly said that they would destroy Israel and the United States. They were getting close to developing an atomic weapon, as far as we knew, and we had to shut down their program, as the Israelis did in 1980 with the famous raid on their production reactor. Then they moved all their facilities deep underground, similar to what Nazi Germany did when we started our bombing raids in 1942-43. John, mutually assured destruction. That is, if they use an atomic bomb, we would use an atomic bomb. What makes Iran and the Ayatollahs different from, don't they know that if they did use an atomic weapon on Israel or us, that they would get a lot more back than they gave? They would be destroyed. Why don't they follow that? Because their doctrine, their doctrinaire Islamists, and part of Islamic doctrine, Islamist doctrine is that the Iranians believe that they are holding the 12th Iman, that the 12th Iman is in Iran. They believe he's there. And the only way he can come back and rule is to cause an apocalypse. They feel it is a religious obligation for them to create a global apocalypse that will result in the revelations of the 12th Iman, which is one of the reasons that the amolas who run the country are moving their wealth and some of their families outside of the country to remote locations. So they really don't care if their people are going to be destroyed by the millions. If they carried something like that out, an atomic attack would destroy their own country. They really don't care. It's not fear or caring, it's an obligation. They feel obligated to do it. What do you think our chances are of actually overwhelming the Ayatollahs to the point where they say, okay, we give up, we're going to go along with civilized society, so to speak, and not do the things we're threatening? According to the Iranian Medical Association, during the last set of uprisings, since the beginning of this year, a minimum of 52,000 Persians were murdered, executed by the Ayatollahs. They're currently carrying out daily executions of people that they believe are threats to their regime, including Christians that are being slaughtered in mass. Public executions are taking place. They're hanging people from construction cranes and things like that.So we're not exactly dealing with the old Soviet Union or modern-day Russia, which are rational actors. And you're dealing with a rational actor. You can use mutually assured destruction, or even in the case of President Reagan and President Nixon, who wanted to reduce the number of atomic weapons so that an attack would not be, then an atomic war would not be totally destructive. And we could use even things on both sides, such as civil defense as a weapon, which was proposed back in, I guess, 1960 by the Eisenhower administration in the early part of the Kennedy administration. You're not dealing with normal, rational actors. Now, for example, let's look at North Korea.President Trump went to North Korea, sat down with the dictator that runs North Korea, and he came to a conclusion that it was better to make money than not war. And it was better to make money than war. When was the last time you heard anything from North Korea? Right now, North Korea, as far as we know, ceased or slowed down the development of atomic weapons. The only thing they're doing now is selling weapons in the global arms market. I guess they found it was more profitable to sell arms in the global arms market than to attempt atomic war against Japan in the United States. They just keep firing missiles.Mr. Trump said when this war began, he thought it would be over in a few weeks. He thought that they would exhaust whatever they had, that we would take out the infrastructure that would make that possible. But we're now, the Straits of Hormuz are shut down again. The Uthe, whatever Uthe rebels in Yemen are at it again. They just keep coming back like the ever-ready bunny, and it doesn't seem to matter what's happening, how much we bomb them. Where are they getting all that ammunition and missiles and drones and all that to continue this? As we remember from our experience in World War II, we are now dealing with fanatics. We believe that they may be getting resupplied through China and the North Korea. That is one of the reasons that President Trump has bombed the transportation corridors, making it impossible or very difficult to deliver arms to Iran. Now, I don't know what the Iranians are paying for, what they're using for money to pay for this, because the, how they just call the rial is their currency. It's completely dropped to billions of rials to a dollar. The country's rampant inflation, it has economically turned into a basket case. So I don't know how they're paying for these weapons. So they're being, possibly being resupplied. Also, we believe that they had underground stockpiles of weapons. This is corn Israeli intelligence. They had underground stockpiles of weapons that they've been able to accumulate over years and hold in secret locations. Now, we've been hitting those too. We've also been hitting their industrial infrastructure to keep them from making new ones.So they have a supply that's been reduced to a trickle coming in. That we've since we've bombed the rail and highway connections into Iran from the outside. And right now, we don't know how many missiles or rockets that they have there. They can fire a few, they're hitting our allies. One of the most important things is to make sure that they don't have the ability to make an atomic weapon. I can assure you the Persians have no interest in atomic power or atomic weapons. They have unlimited natural resources. They have 400-year supply of energy. Just they're sitting on top of a 400-year supply of energy. They don't need atomic energy or atomic weapons. There are very advanced people, wonderful people, that are being held under the thumb of tyranny, a tyranny that is mind-boggling in its cruelty. I read an article the other day about al-Shabaab.Al-Shabaab is located in its central headquarters in Somalia. And al-Shabaab is one of the crazy side as well. They are committing genocide against the Christians, especially in Nigeria and other places. And they're being funded by America via the Somali fraud. The Somalis in Columbus, Ohio, and they have a huge population of Somalis up there. In other places, they have the fake daycare centers, fake medical clinics and stuff. They have robbed the American taxpayers of tens of billions of dollars. And so, in effect, American Christian taxpayers are funding the genocide of Christians here and there around the world, especially in Africa. Do you believe that the ayatollahs and people like al-Shabaab are in cahoots in this that they're working together? I know that's an off-the-wall question, but there seems to be a coordinated effort here somewhere besides just the Somalis that are in America and al-Shabaab that's in Somalia. How do you see that? Is there a collusion between all these different factions of crazy Islamics? I would not rule out collusion. I wouldn't rule it out, but I would not be surprised if it turned out to exist. As far as what I know between the Somalis and the ayatollahs, I don't see a direct connection. There may be an indirect connection through third parties, but I don't see a direct connection. And some people are asking themselves, why is it important that we have all this presence in the Strait of Hormuz? And that's a question a lot of us are asking because the United States, the Strait of Hormuz, to us is really not that important. It's far more important to our allies in Asia and Europe, and very few, if any, have stepped up to assist us.I thought it was sort of interesting. "Camp Stove" by Steve Adams

Camp StoveWe have a wonderful neighborhood and that yields some interesting situations.  Last Winter, my neighbor borrowed my portable wood stove so he could take his family camping during a cold snap.  I was more than happy to agree and I enjoyed hearing the kids play back in the woods. We are now in the summer season.  If the weather permits, some weekends we will have the neighbors over and show movies on the lawn.  As Summer has settled in, the heat and humidity are just not conducive to that, so we all do what we need to do outside and retreat back into the houses for comfort.Last week, our area set records and the heat index was around 110 F.  One evening, I was out front watering plants when I heard Misty and Zack coming across the lawn.  As I looked up, I burst out laughing when I saw them carrying my portable stove.  Of all the days to remind me of Winter heating, returning the stove while I was dripping sweat was poetic justice at its height!Sponsored by the Caylor Financial Planning Group in Lynchburg, Virginia. July 30 Birthright lunacy

July 30 Birthright lunacyThe recent 14th Amendment opinion by the Supreme Court is a great unveiling. It removed the cloak of legitimacy from justices whose opinions support the following: When pregnant women from foreign nations enter the U.S. to give birth, their newborn babies are instantly American citizens. That's ridiculous, dangerous, and it's not constitutional. Those who know American history or even have a functioning brain know the 14th Amendment was put into the Constitution at that time so the children of newly freed slaves would count as American citizens. What's that say about SCOTUS? Republicans seldom say anything because we know that things are pretty good. Right now we have more people employed at any time in history. And those jobs went to American citizens because Mr. Trump removed more than 3 million illegal immigrants from our country. That also reduced the cost of housing by a lot. Since there are fewer people living for free. He's lowered the price of drugs by forcing pharmaceutical companies to give us favored nation prices. Did you know we used to pay 10 times more what other countries paid for those very same drugs? Now we all pay the same. July 28 Dining out in a good economyWhenever we go out to eat, I notice that restaurants are full. And I love hearing that restaurants are busy. That tells me our economy is doing well. If it weren't, people wouldn't pay $25 for a plate of spaghetti. But they just wouldn't do that. Yes, I realize that many of those diners are using plastic to pay for their pasta. But still, if you can afford to eat out, no matter how you're paying for it, our economy is doing well. We had credit cards in the old days, but eating out was rare. On a special occasion, it wasn't several times a week. Hearing that people are frequently in restaurants, that tells me they can afford to pay for the gas to get there. Yeah, gas has become more expensive because of the Iran war. But it's a lot less when brain-dead Biden was running the show. In some places, it was $7 a gallon. "Tap on the shoulder" by Steve Adams

"Tap on the Shoulder" by Steve AdamsIn the middle of my freshman year, I was exactly where I wanted to be. I was a young engineering student sitting in a dim campus radio booth, surrounded by the warm glow of the console lights and the steady hum of the equipment. To me, riding the board was the ultimate playground. You queue up the next track, open the microphone, and throw your voice out into the night, wondering who might be listening on the other end of the signal. At the midpoint of the year, the Chief Engineer approached me about filling HIS SHOES when he graduated in the Spring.  I was excited and nervous, but he assured me he would teach me what I needed to know and that a sophomore COULD run the engineering of the station.Looking back, I realize that we rarely see our own value or life’s blueprint clearly when we’re young. We all need that tap on the shoulder from a trusted mentor; until it becomes OUR turn to tap someone else’s shoulder as THEIR mentor.Sponsored by the Caylor Financial Planning Group in Lynchburg, Virginia. SPLC has found that increasing racial tensions is really profitable. In 2016, SPLC had $51 million. In 2017, that had grown to $133 million. Why? Because of the Unite the Right Rally in Charlottesville, which the SPLC funded. It only cost SPLC $260,000 to fund Unite the Right, but they got back roughly $80 million in return. July 21 Statistically impossible Biden electionPresident Trump's nominee for Director of National Intelligence, Jay Clayton, refused to say who won the 2020 election, and Democrats say he's not fit to serve unless he says Mr. Biden won. Biden allegedly received 81.2 million votes, while Mr. Obama only received 69 million votes. But Biden was put into office because 81 million votes beat 74 million votes. In 2020, there were only 168 million registered voters, and supposedly 155 million of them voted. That's statistically impossible. 92%, usually voter turnout is around 75%. It's also impossible that Americans who are registered to vote and voted could have increased so much between 2016 and 2020. Sponsored by the Caylor Financial Planning Group in Lynchburg, Virginia. July 20 America's Suicidal Tolerance of Fraud

July 20 America's Suicidal Tolerance of FraudA while back I was in a grocery store, a guy came up and said, "I notice you have celery and tomatoes, lettuce, and milk in your cart. May I buy it for you?" I said, "No, I'll buy my own grocery."  He said, "I'll buy your food with my food stamps and you buy me cigarettes and beer with cash. It won't cost you anything to help me." I said, "You're messing up the food stamp system for everyone." (He called me a bad name and walked away!)Every dollar lost to fraud, favoritism, inflated contracts, personal enrichment is a dollar that can't be used for roads and schools, public safety, national defense, health care. Medicare fraud consumes more than 70% of all Medicare payments. Lately we saw that Somalis have robbed us of tens of billions of dollars. Fraud is a horrible thing and we have to put a stop to it. Sponsored by the Caylor Financial Planning Group in Lynchburg, Virginia. July 15 America's Freedom through God

July 15 America's Freedom through GodThe bald eagle was chosen as the national symbol for the United States of America in 1782 because of its long life, great strength, and majestic looks. It was the look of a new nation. I recently watched The Great Awakening, the story of the love between two friends, the Reverend George Whitfield and Benjamin Franklin, and how our nation was saved by George Whitfield. The Constitutional Convention of 1787 was failing, and it looked as though our country would collapse from within until Benjamin Franklin remembered the wonderful prayers and the strength of Christians like George Whitfield. And Benjamin Franklin proposed that every morning begins with a Christian prayer. It's what founded this country. In the 1787 Constitutional Convention, Christ once again saved this country. "Old School Technology" by Steve Adams

"Old School Technology" by Steve AdamsI am enjoying a relatively peaceful evening which is rare.  I have settled in with a good video and have a bowl of Pistachio nuts that I am shelling.  My calm evening was just interrupted as a thought came to me suddenly.Growing up, if I wanted to know about a Saturn 5 rocket or how a boiler worked, finding the answer required the next trip to Grandmother’s house in town.  I would seek out her encyclopedia and, assuming I remembered the question, I would begin searching.  Is that rocket under “R” for rocket … or “S” for Saturn 5?Sometimes, I would write a list of things I wanted to look up and would spend hours flipping through topics I was curious about, but it was ALL manual! As I recalled those days, I laughed as I sat back in my chair, formulated my question and pressed the call button on my Bluetooth. I asked the friendly AI voice on my phone, “How are Pistachio nuts dried and prepared?”.  Within seconds, I learned something new…Sponsored by the Caylor Financial Planning Group in Lynchburg, Virginia. July 16 DNC destroyed by socialistsI was talking to my friend Lex Green about the party of slavery, KKK, racism, anti-constitution, anti-capitalism, anti-Americanism, the Democrats. And the thing is, the DNC is being put to death by communists and socialists, and they're not sure what to do. This November, the stark contrast between Democrats and Republicans will be glaringly obvious and undeniable.MAGA Republicans may regain control of America's conservative party, life, liberty, justice, and the American way. But the DNC will have been finished off by global communists and socialists currently pounding the final nails in the coffin of the DNC. But even the MAGA Republicans can't save America unless we can rein in the anti-American federal judges that are making disastrous decisions designed to hurt us.Sponsored by the Caylor Financial Planning Group in Lynchburg, Virginia. July 14 America haters winning electionsDemocrat primary election winner in New York during Elisa Avila-Chavallay said, I forgot my napkins today, so I just wiped my hands on an American flag. Yes, the new people that are being elected by Democrats hate America, and they're called Democratic Socialists of America. What do they want? They're fighting for the total eradication of the Western Civilization. In St. Paul, why don't we just make dog parks out of white Christian cemeteries, and the dogs can do their business on the graves of white people. America is 250 years old, and I'm not sure it's going to get much older if this keeps up. Why are Democratic Socialists winning elections? Incompetent tyranny of City Managers

July 12 Incompetent Tyranny of City Managers Hello, this is George Caylor, TeaWithGeorge.com, and today's session of Get Real is with my dear old friend, Dr. Kevin Clauson. As far as intellect is concerned, I've always considered there's Kevin Clauson, and then there's the rest of us. He is an encyclopedia of history, of constitution, of theology, of common sense, and I don't find that much out there in the world like I used to.Common sense. Welcome, Kevin Clauson to the show. Do I need to call you doctor? No, you do not.Good, because I wasn't anyway. We're just old friends. Kevin, I know a town that's run by a city manager, and I'm very familiar with the town by the way, won't say where it is, and the city manager has become unaccountable. In fact, members of the city council of that town wanted the books audited, see where the money goes, see where, well, the town is paying him around $300,000 a year to make decisions. But he said, no, I'm not going to tell you. And the mayor of the town said, okay, let's not make trouble. The city council members who did want to make trouble by finding out where the money's going have been blasted as non-cooperative, troublemakers, and everything else. So city managers, why is that sometimes not a good idea? You're more familiar with this than almost anybody in America. So talk to us.This is typical of city manager forms of government, which make up about two thirds of the cities and towns in America. The rest are either a strong mayor or a city commission form of government. But the city manager form took off in the early 20th century based on the ideas of people like of all people, Woodrow Wilson, who had been a president, but of course, and a governor. But before that, he had been a professor at Princeton University of Political Science. And he basically invented, as it were, modern public administration. The problem is that modern public administration is very bureaucratic. It's made to be bureaucratic. Wilson believed in the governing or governance by experts. He believed that, yes, the people could vote for their leaders, just the top leaders, nobody else.Vote for their leaders, and then the leaders can appoint these managers, these experts, and leave everything else to the experts. Government by experts was what he believed in. And he practiced it when he was governor of New Jersey. He practiced it when he was president, especially during World War I. But the idea grew and made its way into city governments in America, starting in the 1920s in America, and spread from there. The idea was to keep politics out of government. Well, the problem is you can't keep politics out of government.Government is about politics. Politics is about policy. And you can't separate the two without actually handing over the policy-making, decision-making to somebody else, besides the elected representatives. And this is the problem. The city manager for government involves a part-time city council, low paid. They defer to the city manager. The city manager is the full-time expert, highly paid, has a staff, you know, highly paid staff that works for him, basically. And the city council just kind of sits back and says, oh, well, we don't know these things. We're not experts like he is.So what can we do? We'll just hire the city manager and let him run the city. He becomes the de facto mayor of the city. But he's unelected and unaccountable except for the city council. But remember, the city council is part-time, low paid. They don't have an incentive to kind of monitor the city manager closely. They can't.And he has every incentive to hide things, as it were. He may not always hide them intentionally, but he hides them because he's the expert. He's the guy paid the big bucks. He's the guy who really runs the city. Kevin, this reminds me of the American government itself, the Deep State. We elect presidents. We elect congressmen and senators. But who runs the country? The Deep State. And they are unaccountable.I remember when I ran a company in Germany, I had several general officers who found out that I was a financial planner and a wealth manager. They asked if I would be their financial planner. And one of the generals, he was going to retire within about a month. He said, is there anything I can do for you while I'm still a general? He said, yes, you have a GS-10, government service worker, 10, in your department that is so totally corrupt and incapable of making any good decisions. Could you have him shot? He laughed. And he said, well, no, we can't have people shot anymore. And he said, George, I am a three-star general and I can't even have him fired. I can't have a GS-2 fired. He said, we don't have power. If a general officer can't do that about one of the Deep State GS-10s, no wonder that we have the problems we have. What else is going on with the city manager type of government that makes things, they're unaccountable. They can spend money without even thinking about being, is this a good deal for the city or not? What else? Well, one of the things that's very common in these city manager forums is the city manager will kind of give favors to certain city councilmen. They may be little favors, they may be bigger favors in order to entice them to support him and his agenda. Now, he may try to do that with all of them. If it doesn't work with all of them, that's fine.As long as he gets a majority, he's okay. You know what you just said, it is that in the city. I'm thinking of, so you just hit the nail on the head.So yeah, go on. I'm sorry. Yeah, no, it's very common. It's very common that way. He stays in power. Most people don't think of him having power, but he has a lot more power than the elected city councilman do because the majority of city councils that he is councilman, he's favored are going to let him get away with anything because he's the expert. He's the guy paid the big bucks. Here's a challenging question, I think, at least in America. We have a system of government, which involves, at least in theory, separation of powers and checks and balances. Why is it that in two thirds of American cities, we've thrown that in the trash can? We don't have a system of separation of powers and checks and balances in a city manager form of government. We have a bureaucratic, top-down, expert-run system of government, unaccountable, unelected. Why is it we do this on the national level, the separation of powers, checks and balances, and the state level, but then when it comes to the local level, we want to be run by bureaucrats. Why is that? Well, way back in the beginning, it was because we thought we could take politics out of policymaking. Remember that? I said that earlier. That's just not going to happen. It never happens. You replace one person's policy with another. In other words, you replace the city manager's politics with the city council's politics. As I said, he becomes a de facto mayor of the city, unelected, unaccountable, but nonetheless, de facto mayor of the city. The media seems to prefer the city manager and they blast the city council members, thinking of that same city again, blast those city council members that they think are troublemakers, wanting that city manager to be held accountable for his spending. We don't even know what he's spending on in that town I'm thinking of.Yeah, well, see, the media is laboring under a severe delusion. And here's the delusion. The city manager is above politics. The city council is all about politics, but the city manager is above politics. That's just crazy. It's not true.It never has been true. It's his politics that's ruling the day because he has the real power, the real power. On paper, the city council can fire him, but will they? No, not as long as he controls.I put the word controls in quotes. As long as he controls enough city councilmen, they will not fire him. They'll let him get away with what he wants to get away with. And this is true in city council systems all over the country. Not just conservative and liberal. No, it's everywhere. You would think that a conservative city that usually votes red would not allow the deep state, so to speak, to be their government in their town. Well, on our federal level, we have. And right now, our government's controlled by Republicans on the executive side and the legislative side. And yet, we still have the deep state. We still have bureaucratic government from top to bottom. In our national government. And even in conservative states, we have it in state governments, too, conservative states. These bureaucracies get in place, and then they never go away. They never disappear.Support the show#Political/Conservative/Judeo/Christian/Constitutional

July 13 Christians funding Christian genocide

July 13 Christians funding Christian genocideWhen Barack Hussein Obama brought in tens of thousands of Somalis, he must have known that the anti-Christian terrorist group Al-Shabaab is headquartered in Somalia. And now we're learning that the Somalis that Mr. Obama brought in have defrauded American taxpayers out of literally tens of billions of dollars. They set up tax-funded daycare centers with no children, medical clinics with no doctors and no medicine, and other enterprises that made it possible to steal those tens of billions of dollars. Where did those tens of billions of dollars go? Well, some of it just went into luxury living for the Somalis living here in America, but a great deal of it went to Al-Shabaab. In fact, it was expected. Somalis are still loyal to Al-Shabaab, and our tax dollars are being used in the genocide of Christians throughout Africa and other places. In other words, Christian taxpayers are funding the killing of Christians.Sponsored by the Caylor Financial Planning Group in Lynchburg, Virginia. Hospitality by Steve Adams

Hospitality by Steve AdamsI was talking to my sister and listened as she explained how visitors to the World Cup events were surprised at the hospitality they received in the US.  As we talked, she commented that apparently Ranch Dressing has been a surprise hit as well.Globally, this hospitality is more common than not, though.  In all the places I visited worldwide, I was always welcomed and met wonderful local people who would invite me to their homes for meals or take me to some of the landmarks in the area.  Some of these people I now consider as extended family and we still visit each other as we can. There is so much wrong in the world today, at least that is the impression we get from various sources.  Maybe I was just lucky to meet so many wonderful people, but my sister and I agreed that if our respective dogma were removed, people are, for the most part, more good than bad. This, however, does not change the fact that I prefer Thousand Island over Ranch on MY salad!Sponsored by TheCaylorGroup.comSupport the show#Political/Conservative/Judeo/Christian/Constitutional

July 9 Ignorant Hatred for the Electoral College

July 9 Ignorant Hatred for the Electoral CollegeIt didn't take long for the New York communists elected by a 19% Democrat voter turnout to whine about our Electoral College. Hillary charmed in, still bitter about her 2016 defeat when she won the popular vote but lost the Electoral College vote. She said "the Electoral College is an abomination." We had the Electoral College because the rural and small-town residents make up less than 20% of the population and they wouldn't have any voice on who's to be our president. Only the voice is the big city dwellers and suburbanites would be heard in selecting a president and they don't share the values with the rest of America. And with the Electoral College, they can't rule us. And do you think that that's perhaps why the socialists, communists, and Democrats hate the Electoral College so much?Sponsored by the Caylor Financial Planning Group in Lynchburg, Virginia. July 7 Diversity is not a Muslim thingThere's a saying, "America will not lose itself because Islam conquered it. It will lose itself because its leaders were too frightened, too ignorant, too guilty, and too vain to defend the country that they swore to protect. And because too many of its people were too comfortable, too distracted, and too afraid to demand that they do it. At some point, Americans are going to have to stop pretending." For instance, in New York, the candidates backed by Zohan Mandani, with the Democrat Socialists of America, just won their primaries. And they defeated the incumbent Democrat Party candidates. In Texas, we have Pakistan Day in the state capitol. They called it diversity. That's not what Islamists call it. July 6 Somalis' Billion$ in Fraud

I'm not sure why, but Barack Hussein Obama brought in tens of thousands of Somalis, and at taxpayer expense, they've been repopulating America with Somalis. And the problem is, they're not assimilating. A lot of Americans were shocked to learn that Somalis stole over $9 billion of taxpayer money in the state of Minnesota, and that was just the tip of the iceberg. Then we discovered that Somalis have stolen tens of billions more across America. That's their culture. That's what they do in Somalia. That's what they do here. And they're using that money to win elections. After a while, they'll be unstoppable. A universe made of Music

July 5 A Universe made of musicHello, I'm George Caylor, TeaWithGeorge.com, and today's session of Get Real, is a special treat for me today, maybe for you as well.  I'm visiting with a fellow musician (that's almost like a mouse calling a lion my fellow hunter." I'm just an old rock and roller. A lot of you remember me from the 60s, but I'm talking to a true musician today. His name is Adam Smith. Adam, you're with Masterworks. You earned music degrees from two of America's most respective conservatories. You became a business owner like I did and an entrepreneur. We have a lot of background that's the same, except you're young and good looking and I'm old. You're actually a classical musician. I was a Motown rock and roller. Was that a detour from God's plan or did you eventually realize it was His plan? It's a great question. George, it's a pleasure to be with you today. Thank you for having me. I would say that that question does get asked a lot because when people find out my business background, they might put me in a bucket of, well, is he a business guy or a music guy? But a lot of times, I don't play that card. There's certain tact in how you just relate to people and what you're talking about. I don't tell everybody that I've got seven years of conservatory music training. Some people would expect that I've got MBAs and various business degrees or whatever. So I went to school at a prominent conservatory in Cleveland where I met my wife and that was a music theory degree that I got there. And then my wife and I got married and thankfully I got a full scholarship and stipend and all to a prominent conservatory in Rochester, New York and did that for three years.  I got out of there, I had underestimated the job market as a music theory professor. So it was like, okay, you can make 30 grand a year. I was like, wow. And I was I was making good money on side work during school, doing multimedia, doing some sound design, some custom audio work. And I ended up working for a friend of mine who bought us an auto repair and body shop. And it was a little bit of a proving ground for me to reset my expectations of what I had just gone through with school. But I, you know, I loved doing that. And after that, I worked for an Internet company for a year. And that sort of dot bust around 2000 was what I experienced there. And it was at that moment in around 2000, I just said, Lord, what am I supposed to do? And I knew that what we do for a living as our vocation was important. Some of you all might realize that when Jesus called his disciples, none of them were rabbis. They're all business guys. They're all just working guys. You got fishermen, tax collectors, doctors, lawyers. You got you got just working people. That says something, right? Principle of God honoring your vocation and your vocation being important to him. I knew that, but I wasn't sure which realm to pursue. I actually ended up just praying and worshiping and reading scriptures and singing the scriptures because that's a talent I have as an ear trained. I can improvise and play for hours and play anything that I hear on the radio. And now I can tell you what all the chords are because I have music theory background. But I just spent time in prayer and worship. And that ended up turning into an album that I produced called Worship at Work. And I toured around the country and I've led worship in prominent venues. And through that, I was presented with the opportunity. To go be a Christian artist with management and all that. And I was going to be like the workplace ministry worship leader guy. And I'm praying over the contracts and the Lord says, you can do this if you want to, but I'd rather give you a business. And I said, okay, obviously, Lord, the way you're saying that, I think I know what I'm supposed to do. And I pushed the contracts to the side, told my wife what the Lord said. She said, okay. I called the management. I said, listen, I know this looks like a layup, but I've got another direction. I started getting on the phone and networking and I had some web design skills. And I just started calling businesses and friends and saying, hey, can I build a website for you? Just started my own thing. My company is called Soundpress because I was doing the audio work. And I was like, okay, well, I'll just keep that name for a while. The word Soundpress, like a printing press, creating sound, that was where I was doing a lot of that creative. So I ended up starting my own marketing business in 2000. And I look back 26 years and you say, well, was that a detour from God's plan? Or did I eventually realize it? So many things have carried forward in my life from those foundations that I know absolutely that I'm on his plan now. But if you asked me back in 2000, 2001, 2002, and I was thankful to have a $20 bill in my wallet and to provide food for my wife and my baby, I was constantly asking, Lord, is this the right pathway for me? And trusting him all along the way. But he's built a fantastic business for us and now I absolutely see his purposes. That's a short story. There'll be a longer story, but that's a short story. You know, my daughter, one of my twin daughters, when she was in college, she said, Daddy, I think I'll major in philosophy. I said, you know, honey, that degree comes with the food stamps stapled to it.And oftentimes a music degree as well. In fact, when I was a touring, recording rock and roll musician, I played with some fabulous musicians. And if they didn't play tomorrow night, they wouldn't eat the next day.Very, very bad business. And it seems that God gave you both sides. And I don't know why it's almost exclusive that if you're an artist, you're a bad businessman.Somehow you avoided. How's your music training shape the way you lead people and solve problems and run a business? And are there any principles from the practice room that apply just as much in the marketplace? A hundred percent. So when I was in grad school, my stipend was to teach the undergrads. That's kind of how that works. So I got used to standing in front of classrooms and lecturing and teaching and working with students, some boneheaded students, you know, how students can be. I was one of them, right? But I honed a lot of people skills, right? I was under authority.I had my, you know, my advisors and all that. I still was taking classes. I had teachers I had to report to.And, you know, in grad school, you can't get anything below a B, you know. So you got to work hard. And then teaching gave me some public speaking chops, right? So that alone. But the musical analysis of music theory to break down a symphony and analyze everything that's going on there, I see that correlation to me solving complex software information architecture and various e-commerce needs where we have a lot of systems integrations. You have data coming from various places. You have financial things coming in.You have integration to marketing engines as well. And various softwares in that space. So to orchestrate all that together for success and analyze the data of the results, you know, those things are not dissimilar to analyzing a symphony with all its parts and its form and its structure.I will say this, though. The comforting thing about music theory is that it hasn't changed. Technology has changed. But I can still go back and do an analysis of a Beethoven symphony the same way it's always been done. Even though today in a tech stack, if I'm building architecture for e-commerce and marketing, there's so many different tools and things to use. I got to stay abreast of that stuff. But it's the analysis of that. And then the leading people, you know, just from whether a conductor is a leader, which I'm not a conductor, but understanding how to present and to teach, you know, sort of comes into bear. One of my side hobbies is quantum physics and the nature of time, energy, space, and matter. In fact, in the book of Colossians, chapter 1, verse 14, in the language of a physicist, Christ came before time, energy, mass, and space. Created energy, time, mass, and space. And by him, the fabric of the universe is held together. He's holding it together, all of it, the universe. And the atoms in you and me together. And what we're discovering now that the energy that makes up matter is almost certainly musical notes, arranged in equations, but it breaks down to musical notes. And right now, I'm looking across the table at you, and I'm looking at musical notes that have formed a good-looking man. And you're looking at musical notes of an 82-year-old man here. So no wonder that we gravitate towards this. We're made of it. We're made of music. In fact, Chronicles of Narnia, Aslan, who represents Christ, sang the universe into being. (Click on link to listen to continue)Support the show#Political/Conservative/Judeo/Christian/Constitutional

    "Cultural Respect" by Steve Adams

"Cultural Respect"I’ve learned a great deal from my Asian friends. While on a business trip to Nepal, I witnessed firsthand their deep, generational reverence for age. Younger colleagues engaged me warmly, but completely shied away from asking questions they felt were "above their place" to ask. When I returned back to the States, I caught up over lunch with a close Vietnamese friend named Tran. He is in his late twenties and very Westernized. We were having a lively discussion, but remembering Nepal, I asked him a direct question: “If you really disagreed with me, would you tell me?”Tran got quiet. He struggled with the question before hesitantly replying, “Maybe.”A deep sense of respect is sorely lacking in our society today, and we have much to learn from the East. During that memorable lunch, I realized even a beautiful custom must be tempered. True respect is a two-way street; withholding your honest thoughts out of cultural deference means some of the signal gets lost and the mutual learning experience is constrained.Sponsored by the Caylor Financial Planning Group in Lynchburg, Virginia. 250 years of Freedom

July 2 250 years of FreedomIt seems that 250 years after America was formed, a lot of Americans don't know that the U.S. Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights formed our country. They formed it with restrictions on government powers. All of our rights are established by this document as inalienable natural rights. That means "under the laws of nature and nature's God." It begins with, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they're endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights. And among these, life, liberty, and the  pursuit of happiness." These rights don't come from presidents or kings or charters or congress. These rights are given to us by God and secured by our founding documents. Sponsored by the Caylor Financial Planning Group in Lynchburg, Virginia. July 1 Enslaved by Federal Judges

July 1 Enslaved by Federal JudgesWhen it comes to electing politicians who will rule over us? Should those voting be citizens? In other words, should citizens have the right to vote over what happens to us? Or should non-citizens also have that right? Or should non-citizens, including illegal aliens say who will rule over us? Mr. Trump asks that only citizens be allowed to vote. And when they register to vote, they prove citizenship. That's like almost all civilized countries on the Earth. But it appears our country isn't quite so civilized. Federal Judge Denise Casper said, no, he's not allowed to do that. Do you think it's strange that almost all nullifications in the 200 years of federal judges have been against Mr. Trump? And when will Americans be tired of being ruled by unelected federal judges? Sponsored by the Caylor Financial Planning Group in Lynchburg, Virginia. June 30 Funding American Obesity

June 30 Funding American ObesityAmerica has a problem with obesity. In fact, I looked at the scale this morning, and I weighed 205 pounds, but I'm 82, and I'd like to get that under 200 pounds. But when I see young people that are grossly obese, unhealthy, and sitting around drinking soft drinks, I wonder, what is this coming to? Our Surgeon General, Robert Kennedy, is trying to do something about it. If people are going to be obese, unhealthy, and cost us billions more in medical bills, we shouldn't have to pay for the food that makes them that way. He wanted to stop them from buying sugary, soft drinks with food stamps. But U.S. District Judge Amy Berman ruled against it, because it seems federal judges are against anything that's good for Americans and America.Sponsored by the Caylor Financial Planning Group in Lynchburg, Virginia. June 29 Illegal everywhere else

June 29 Illegal everywhere elseIt seems that Democrats routinely condemn our efforts to get rid of our illegal immigration. But I think it's worth considering what happens around the world. For instance, when you enter other countries illegally, well, take Singapore, I've been there. If you come in illegally, it's six months in prison. With Russia, if you enter there illegally, it's two years in a labor camp. India, eight years in prison. Pakistan, ten years in prison. North Korea, of course, who would want to enter there? But if you do, death penalty. But if you come into Canada or America, what do you get? Free housing, healthcare, education, food, public transport, cell phones, cash. In other words, if you enter here illegally, you're rewarded big time. Sponsored by the Caylor Financial Planning Group in Lynchburg, Virginia. June 28 Church-going Christians aborting babies

June 28 Church-going Christians aborting babiesHello, I'm George Caylor, TeaWithGeorge.com, and today's session of Get Real is with one of my favorite men in the entire world, Samuel Green, a Messianic Jew. He actually believed the Old Testaments about Jesus, and he came to Jesus as his personal lord and savior, just as I have. He's also a pro-life warrior. He's out there on the front lines. I want to start asking Samuel some questions this morning. By the way, this is a no-holds-barred, politically incorrect show, so Samuel, are you ready? I hope so.Thanks for having me, George. Okay, we'll see. Well, some may want to assume that everyone in church is pro-life.I mean, Jesus was pro-life, and he still is pro-life. Is it a safe assumption to think that, that everybody in church is pro-life? Sadly, it is not, and so for your pro-life listeners, don't assume that your church-going friends are all pro-life. There are many studies showing that significant portions of churchgoers believe the Bible says nothing about abortion. They are turning to abortion themselves, voting for abortion, and so we who know the truth really need to work to address this confusion and help churchgoers understand that children in the womb are fully human and precious in the eyes of God and deserving of love and protection, that they are, in fact, among the neighbors we have been commanded to love as ourselves. That's a heavy responsibility on all of us, I think. Years ago, we had a Supreme Court justice come to town, Justice Scalia, and he was new on the court, and I didn't know how he felt about pro-life, pro-choice, what it was, and so I asked him a question, almost laid a trap for him, which I wouldn't have needed to, I found out later, but I said, Justice Scalia, if someone's on life support and they have a 99.5% chance of full recovery and a great life, if the life support is not disconnected, would you have a law that it could not be disconnected? He said, yeah, there should be such a law.I said, what if that life support was an umbilical cord? Well, there were a lot of pro-choice women in the crowd, and I got hissed and booed, but he said, absolutely. He said the umbilical cord is life support. It should not be disconnected. So getting into politics a little bit here, there's a U.S. Senate candidate from Texas, James to Larry Coe, I think that's how I pronounce it, but recently he expressed his support that justified his position that the Bible is silent on abortion. Is he correct that the Bible doesn't address abortion? If that's so, how do we explain to our church-going friends that abortion actually violates God's edicts for us? Well, what that Senate candidate said is part of a broader effort that we have seen on the part of the abortion industry and pro-abortion politicians to basically try to lull Christians into thinking that it's okay to support abortion or that they, in fact, should support abortion. But that is a lie, and it's a lie that comes from the devil. The Bible says the devil was a murderer from the beginning and is the father of lies. So we should not be surprised that there are deceptive campaigns that are taking place to try to encourage Christians to support murder. I mean, one thing the Senate candidate said is correct that the word abortion is not actually used in the Bible, but the Bible is very clear about the evil of abortion. And that is simply when we look to commands like the one we see in the Ten Commandments, do not murder. Okay, that clearly applies to murdering an innocent human being. And all of that is prohibited. So the real question that the Christian then needs to grapple with is, well, are children in the womb human beings? Are they precious in the eyes of God, just like those who are walking and talking? And there is an abundant amount of scriptural evidence showing that, yes, children in the womb are fully human, fully precious, and therefore protected when the Bible says, do not murder. One of those great biblical passages comes from Luke chapter one. And there we see that John the Baptist, while in the womb of his mother, actually experienced an emotion, the emotion of joy and leaped as a result of that emotion.A meaningless blob of cells doesn't experience emotion and leak as a result. But little children, they leap for joy. John the Baptist jumped for joy while in his mother's womb, being fully human even then.Luke one also tells us that John the Baptist was filled with the Holy Spirit while still in his mother's womb. That means God looked upon this child who had not even taken a single breath and valued him so greatly that he blessed him by filling him with the Holy Spirit. That tells us that unborn children are very precious to God.And if they're precious to God, they should be precious to the Lord's followers. There are other scriptural passages as well that make it very clear that children in the womb are fully human, fully precious, and among the neighbors we have been commanded to love as ourselves. Last week I had a minister, Mr. Chaplain in the U.S. Army, a lieutenant colonel, talking about pastors and how they've abrogated their duty to tell the truth in the pulpit. And he said that a lot of pastors are afraid of saying something that may sound political, they might lose their tax deduction, which that has never happened ever in history. But he said some pastors wouldn't say, vote for this pro-life candidate if it would save a million babies the next day. They'd rather the million babies die than to dirty the pulpit with something political.Support the show#Political/Conservative/Judeo/Christian/Constitutional
