Driver charged with murder, DUI in Port Richmond collision that killed 45-year-old woman

Philadelphia authorities have arrested and charged a man accused of killing a woman while driving under the influence in Port Richmond late last year. It was around 2 a.m. on Dec. 27 when police say 31-year-old Elijah Vines was driving his Nissan truck on Aramingo Avenue, near East Tioga Street, when he suddenly collided head-on with a Volkswagen sedan driven by 45-year-old Barbara Skurska. Skurska was taken to the hospital, where she died about half-hour later. Vines and a passenger in his vehicle were also hospitalized following the crash. Vines was arrested Wednesday on Castor Avenue — one block from where the accident occurred. He's been charged with murder, DUI, homicide by vehicle, and other offenses. (Photo: NBC10)
