There’s something different about a mix caught in the middle of a festival rather than pieced together in the studio. This one comes straight from the floor, with Malta’s Jewel Kid taking control at Groove & Bass in Quebec and working through the kind of chunky house and tech house grooves that have kept him busy for more than two decades. That experience runs deep. Jewel Kid has released across Toolroom, Alleanza, Glasgow Underground, Abode and Nervous, while his touring history includes Space Ibiza, Space Miami, Egg London, Cielo New York, Womb Tokyo and Sankeys Ibiza. He’s also a Carl Cox Worldwide Remix Competition winner, with multiple records landing inside Beatport’s Top 10. The mix arrives just after his Rekids debut, ‘Explicit Behaviour’, released on 14th August. The three-track EP finds Jewel Kid leaning into big drums, analogue pressure and classic house touches, from the piano stabs and sirens of ‘Explicit Behaviour’ to the Chicago influence running through ‘In The Dance’ and the rolling tension of ‘The Tribute’.
