Daarom wordt vandaag een hervorming van de militaire dienst aangekondigd, waarbij zoveel mogelijk jongeren de weg naar de Bundeswehr moeten vinden. Het gaat nu nog om een vrijwillig traject, maar wat de Christendemocraten van Merz betreft, zou zo snel mogelijk een verplichte dienst moeten volgen. Wat brengt dit teweeg in de Duitse samenleving? Het Oost-Afrikaanse land Oeganda staat bekend om zijn open-deurenbeleid en vangt de meeste buitenlandse vluchtelingen op van het Afrikaanse continent: Inmiddels bijna 2 miljoen. Nederland en andere westerse landen tonen interesse in migratiedeals; Trump sloot vorige week een overeenkomst met Kampala. Ondertussen droogt de internationale steun op en waarschuwt de VN dat de noodfinanciering in september stopt. De situatie is kritiek. Hoe lang kan Oeganda zijn beleid nog volhouden?
