E 273: If You Don’t Believe You Matter, Nothing Else Sticks

from Adult Child of Dysfunction

In this follow-up teaching episode inspired by my conversation with Sue Bowles, we go deeper into one life-altering question:Do you believe that you matter? Not intellectually. Not because someone else says you do.But in your body. In your nervous system. In the quiet spaces where your real beliefs live. For so many adult children of dysfunction, the core wound isn’t just what happened to us — it’s what we came to believe about ourselves because of it. Survival mode can quietly shape our identity, leaving us stuck in patterns of self-doubt, hyper-independence, people-pleasing, anxiety, or burnout without fully understanding why.In this episode, I unpack:• How childhood dysfunction shapes your belief about your worth• Why your body reveals what you truly believe• The difference between owning your story and becoming your story• Why community is essential for healing• How curiosity replaces self-criticism in recovery• Practical steps to begin rewiring the belief that you don’t matterThis is not surface-level motivation. This is foundational healing work.If you’ve ever felt invisible… not enough… too much… or unworthy of rest, love, or support — this episode is for you.You are not broken.Your nervous system adapted to survive. And now you get to gently teach it something new.Because the truth is this:You matter.Right now.Exactly as you are.—💛 Ready for Your Next Step?If this episode stirred something in you… if you realized you’ve been living like you don’t matter as much as everyone else… I want to invite you to take one brave next step. You don’t have to figure this out alone. If you’re ready to explore what healing could look like for you — in a safe, grounded, supportive space — book a Clarity & Calm Call with me. This is a gentle, no-pressure conversation where we look at where you are, what’s keeping you stuck, and what your next step could be.Schedule your call here:https://calendly.com/tammyvincent/clarity-and-calm-callYour healing matters. And your next step could start today.

This Impact Studios production is a collaboration with the Governor family, UTS Faculty of Law and Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education and Research. The Last Outlaws teamKatherine Biber - UTS Law Professor and Chief InvestigatorAunty Loretta Parsley - Great-granddaughter of Jimmy Governor and the Governor Family Historian Leroy Parsons - Governor descendant, Narrator and Co-WriterKaitlyn Sawrey - Host, Writer and Senior ProducerFrank Lopez - Writer, Managing Next Generation Energy Systems Cambridge University Background Stakeholders working with energy systems have to make complex decisions formulated from risk-based assessments about the future. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
