Julia Scardone Livesey is an icon in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Judo in the UK. She now is moving to Thailand to continue her journey, along with the rest of her family. Julia shares her competition story, which began back in Brazil as a child. We talk about competing, winning or losing and the benefits of testing out your BJJ skills, together with some of the barriers that are faced when taking part in competitions. Bringing high level women, that train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu together was the initial aim for Julia setting up her Judo for BJJ Camps. She now has a massive community of women, supporting all levels to improve and continue training. Julia talks about the support she received from her family, and the value of training from a young age, which she now appreciates as an adult. We discuss women making decisions about their own body, and celebrating the return of Elisabeth Clay to competition within three months of giving birth.
