E37: Kate Ouellette | Smooth Seas Do Not Make Skillful Sailors
from Eat Half, Walk Double · host Chris J. Dunn
Kate Ouellette joins the podcast this week. Her rise to prominence as an ultradistance cyclist has been nothing short of meteoric. In 2016, out of necessity, she reluctantly bought and started riding a fat bike. Five years later she competed in the famous Trans America Bike Race riding 4200 miles in 17 days finishing 2nd place overall (and first female). That year she was also the only person to complete the ride on an indoor trainer! Do the math quickly and you realize that’s 250 miles a day! On an indoor trainer! While that’s mind-bending for most, Kate’s life experiences have taught her that with a deep enough belief in herself and a commitment to do whatever is necessary, nothing is unimaginable. As any cyclist will attest to; a bend in the road is not the end of the road unless you fail to make the turn.
