E548 - Nebraska to Texas Part 2 | Gruene Hall, Hayes Carll, Luckenbach & the Heart of Texas Music
from This Life Ain't For Everybody · host Chad Belding
Chad and Brittany leave Austin and end up five minutes from Gruene Hall. Hayes Carll is recording a live album and Chad has a request list ready before they even walk in. He talks about what it means to stand in a room where George Strait shot his first album cover, and Willie Nelson has played. Hayes Carll takes the stage and the rest of the night disappears. From there it's Luckenbach on a Monday with old Texans playing Guy Clark songs in the courtyard, the Albert Dance Hall on the way to camp, San Antonio, the Pearl District, Hotel Emma, and oysters on the Riverwalk. Chad also gets into Hayes Carll as a songwriter, Jerry Jeff Walker and what Luckenbach means to him, Chris Knight being made an honorary Texan, and why he thinks songwriting is one of the greatest art forms alive. It's another awesome insight into a life that just ain't for everybody! We hope you enjoy! This episode is presented by Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey and brought to you by Demerbox, GATR Coolers & Drinkware, The Nashville Palace, Scoreboard Nashville, ZLINE Appliances, Bedslide, Resistol Hats, and TKO Vitality.
