Dr. Kim Lannon explains that nearly 80% of those infected with COVID have suffered a loss of smell with varying degrees of loss and with a wide range of outcomes. Some are still dealing with long-term loss of smell. This leads to a discussion of the role our senses play in our mental health and well-being. This, in turn, leads to a discussion of how well we understand that our senses, and the thoughts and emotions they evoke, are not who we are, they are what we experience. More importantly, that leads to a discussion of how well we understand that we have control over those thoughts and emotions,  and hopefully it's not the other way around.
