Eczema, Topical Steroid Withdrawal and What Nobody is Telling You with Carla Leske

from The Labia Lounge

This week’s episode is slightly different to the usual topics we cover here in The Labia Lounge, but just as important to holistic health and wellbeing. I got a friend Carla Leske in to chat about eczema and topical steroid withdrawal (Otherwise known as TSW) because it’s something that she’s been battling with for over 2 years now, and something very relevant to me currently given my crazy eczema journey.Everyone needs to know about this because it's likely that you or someone close to you, including your children perhaps, will experience eczema or some sort of skin condition at some point and if you're not equipped with this information then you could be walking into a shitstorm, as you'll learn from this episode! We discussed the horrifying reality of what can happen if you use topical steroid creams for skin conditions like eczema for too long, how a dependence/addiction develops and the effect this has on your adrenals and nervous system, the symptoms of TSW and Carla's journey with it, the response from the western medical system to this condition and the resources and advice out there for how to avoid or overcome it. This is such a commonly prescribed and recommended product that sooo many of us put on our bodies without realising the severity and the consequences that could entail, so I really wanted to spread awareness about it in the hopes of preventing others from finding out about it the hard way like Carla did. This is a vulnerable and raw account of personal experience and not medical advice, however given the actual medical advice we've received that led us down this path in the first place I bet we both wish we'd had a podcast like this to warn us before the medical system gave us this cream without so much as a word of caution! You can also expect all the usual antics and hilarious, vulnerable n' relatable personal stories and signature segments that you've come to know and love here in The Labia Lounge!Make sure you're subscribed for more LL action, and it'd absolutely warm my heart and tickle my clit if you'd leave a gushing review or five star rating for the poddy! The documentary we spoke about in this episode and a couple of the resources Carla recommended are as follows: Briana Banos's documentary “Preventable: Protecting Our Largest Organhttps://www.itsan.org/for-doctors/Eczema Conquerors*** Join my Labia Lounge Facebook group for extra content, Q & As, freebies from my guests, discounts and to be part of a rad and supportive community of labial legends! www.facebook.com/groups/thelabialounge/Grab a P*ssy Magnet and check out the new Labia Lounge MERCH over here (there's even fanny packs if the standard tote bags and tees ain't cuttin' it for ya!): https://www.freyagraf.com/productsonline-trainingsAnd chuck me a follow here: https://www.instagram.com/freyagraf_thelabialounge/AND here: (my backup account cos I keep offending the Algorithms-that-be) https://www.instagram.com/freya.graf/Or support me and the poddy by buying me an extra hot soy chai latte (yes, that is my coffee order cos I'm a bit of a tosser like that) here: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/freyagraf Hosted on Acast.
