from The Jeremiah Show: Pop Culture, Music Icons Food Gods · host Jeremiah D. Higgins | Culinary, Pop Culture and Music Expert
Long before becoming an acclaimed chef and restaurateur, Edie Robertson was making history on four wheels. Classic Episode 232 | Originally Aired August 19, 2019 In this classic episode, the 2019 Skateboarding Hall of Fame inductee looks back on her remarkable journey—from becoming one of the pioneering female professional skateboarders on the legendary Sims team to appearing on The Merv Griffin Show as a teenager and helping shape the golden era of skateboarding. But Edie's story doesn't stop there. She went on to front an all-female rock band that became the first American rock group invited to perform and record in mainland China before discovering another passion in the kitchen. As co-owner and executive chef of Santa Barbara's beloved Sojourner Café and later as a celebrated private chef, she built a second career fueled by the same creativity and fearless spirit that defined her skateboarding days. Throughout our conversation, Edie reflects on chasing opportunity, embracing reinvention, leading with kindness, and why saying "yes" to life's unexpected adventures opened doors she never imagined. It's an inspiring conversation about curiosity, resilience, and living life without limits.
