Een totaal nieuwe archiefervaring

Als historicus ben je volledig afhankelijk van bronnen, die vaak alleen maar in stoffige archieven te vinden zijn. Over beroemde mensen kom je na wat zoeken veel te weten. Maar hoe vertel je het verhaal van een gewone mens die alleen hier en daar wat kleine snippers aan informatie achterliet? En misschien nog wel belangrijker: hoe geef je die gewone mens diens eigen stem terug? Verslaggever Renette Kwakkenbos kijkt voor de podcast Focus op Wetenschap mee met een lectoraat van de Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten, Pluralisme in Onderzoek en de Kunsten. Dit lectoraat is bezig met een bijzonder project: Het Polyphonisch Archief. Ze spreekt met historicus Jair van Dijk en componist Amit Gur. Een van hun casestudies is Huize Dina, een Joods meisjesheropvoedingstehuis, waar meisjes die als 'onhandelbaar' werden gezien, werden 'heropgevoed.' Een veelzijdig team zet een aantal archieven over de meisjes uit dit tehuis om in audio, zodat een volledig nieuwe archiefervaring ontstaat. Hoe zouden de meisjes op hun eigen archief reageren?
