El Universo Violento. Hablamos con Alberto Domínguez.

Entre la enorme cantidad de objetos que abundan en el Universo, algunos tienen emisiones de energía de magnitud descomunal. Uno de esos fenómenos más violentos sucede cuando un agujero supermasivo está rodeado de un enorme disco de materia que va cayendo hacia él, entonces emite un haz de partículas muy energético que, si apunta directamente hacia la Tierra, se conoce como "blázar". El telescopio espacial Fermi, lanzado en 2008 fue diseñado para detectar los fotones gamma generados por los blázares y otros fenómenos cósmicos violentos para calcular su energía y posición en el firmamento. Con los datos obtenidos durante sus años de observación, los científicos de la Colaboración Fermi-LAT, donde Alberto Domínguez es Coordinador del Grupo de Blázares y Núcleos Galácticos, han elaborado y publicado una serie de mapas que muestran la imagen completa de los fenómenos más violentos del Universo.
