Eleven things Mindfulness is not

from Mindfulness Alive · host Charlotte Thaarup

When I first came across mindfulness, I didn’t really get it.  I had the Jon Kabat-Zinn definition of mindfulness: “awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgementally”. (Later he added: “… in the service of self-understanding and wisdom.”) Hmm …. big mouthful! That describes mindfulness in action but still leaves it wide open to misunderstanding. When I encountered the article “9 Things Mindfulness is Not” by Dimple Dhabalia, I found it helped dispel the many misunderstandings about what mindfulness is. So here is my version. --- Mentioned in this episode: “9 Things Mindfulness is Not” by Dimple Dhabalia A systematic review and meta-analysis of psychological interventions to improve mental wellbeing --- Enjoyed this episode?
