Someone who has always believed in the power of young people is Emer Beamer, a social designer and educator based in Amsterdam. Emer is the co-founder and programme lead for an organisation called Design-a-thon Works.

Design-a-thon Works helps children develop their problem solving skills, empowering them to be changemakers. Schools and communities can run several design-a-thons to tackle a topic or a set of objectives. Today, Design-a-thon Works has grown from its roots in Amsterdam to 55 cities around the world.
