Empowering Children Through Their Challenges – Sandee Byrd

from Emotional Elevator with Sandee Byrd

Emotional Elevator with Sandee Byrd  Why do so many parents overlook the struggles their children face? Why do we dismiss their pain and confusion when it comes to their mental health, identity crises, or discovering their sexual orientation? Why don't we take the time to get on their level, to study or read about their experiences when they are suffering from anxiety, navigating a neurodivergent identity, facing an identity crisis, or grabbling with unhealthy feelings? Why do we dismiss their struggles when they are our children - the very beings we are meant to love unconditionally? In this episode of Emotional Elevator, Sandee Byrd, the host will dive deep into the topic that affects countless families but is often overlooked or misunderstood how parents engage with their children's emotional and psychological struggles. I too as a parent overlooked my own kids struggles until I realized I was facing those struggles myself. I was imposing my own false beliefs on them and not getting the help I needed. After working with several clients who were navigating their adult children's mental health and identity crises, I realized I, too, was struggling to understand my own challenges and those of my children. The insight led me to explore ways to help myself and others engage more deeply in understanding our children's identity crises, anxiety, and the complexities of navigating neurodivergent identities, aiming to connect with them on their level and foster mutual understanding.
