Da Norges ME-forening ble stiftet i 1987, var ME nærmest et ukjent begrep i Norge. I denne doble episoden løfter vi fram historien om hvordan to kvinner – Ellen Piro og Reidun Gran Alkanger – ble avgjørende for å endre dette. Ellen er grunnleggeren av ME-foreningen og har vært en sentral skikkelse for å skape forståelse rundt sykdommen i Norge. Reidun har vært en nøkkelperson i utviklingen av foreningens likepersonsarbeid og sammen med Ellen, en uunnværlig støtte for både ME-syke og pårørende. I denne episoden får vi høre hvordan et enkelt presseoppslag ble starten på det som førte til etableringen av en pasientforening, og hvordan disse to kvinnene har banet vei for en hel pasientgruppe.
