Hoe staat Engeland ervoor na de Brexit? Sacha Hilhorst woont in Mansfield en onderzoekt de gevolgen van de Brexit op het land. In de jaren tachtig werden de mijnen in Mansfield gesloten en grote textielbedrijven naar lagelonenlanden verplaatst. In ruil daarvoor werden distributiecentra gebouwd van onder andere Amazon en Sports Direct. Nu werken veel mensen alleen nog maar via uitzendbureaus en krijgen slecht betaald. Hilhorst sprak hun, maar ook veel mensen die de stad uit zijn gegaan. Veel hebben voor de Brexit gestemd, maar sommigen komen daar nu op terug. ‘De schappen liggen vaker leeg, en alles is veel duurder.’ Je hoort het in de podcast van deze week.
