How do you even begin to talk to a family about organ donation? How do you help them understand, consider, and possibly accept such a decision— while they are still in shock, grief, and disbelief? The emotional weight, the inner struggle, and the counseling skills required in these conversations are not something easily explained to those outside the field. In Taiwan, organ donation has gradually become more widely known and more accepted by the public. People may be familiar with brain-death donation, donation after cardiac death, or living-related organ donation. But none of these happen simply because someone wants to donate.
