English Edition - Episode 6 :This time, let’s take a closer look at hospice social workers.

from 醫務社工不藏私 · host 胖妹 & 李さん

Hospice care in Taiwan began in the 1980s. In 1990, the first hospice ward was established at Mackay Memorial Hospital in Tamsui. By 2000, the Hospice Palliative Care Act was passed. Fast forward—hospice care has now been promoted for 25 years, and DNR has become a phrase everyone seems to know. But do we really understand what it means to have a ‘good death’? How does the idea of a good death intertwine with patient autonomy? And how do politics and national policy shape whether ordinary people can truly experience a dignified end of life—bringing peace both to the living and to the dying? As a senior medical social worker, I’d like to share the bittersweet stories of hospice social work. Please listen to our voices. (And between us… this is one episode I kind of hope our central government officials don’t hear. Shhh~) Apple Podcast: Spotify: Share your thoughts on this episode here: https://open.firstory.me/user/cmcihfnnk06ig01xec5jf5a4w/comments Or drop me an email—tell me what color the ocean is today… (just kidding~) [email protected] We’ve also got a Facebook & IG page now, so don’t forget to like and follow!
