‘Better to die well than to live poorly.’ In an age of ever-advancing medical technology, the longing for a natural death has become an increasingly heartfelt wish at the end of life. When it comes to the quality and quantity of life, each person has their own standards, their own beliefs—there is no absolute right or wrong. At life’s end, some people wish to fight against illness until their very last breath; others hope to spend those final moments sharing time with loved ones or fulfilling lifelong dreams. Whatever choices or plans we make, may we all, in our final days, find peace—and leave this world gently and well.
