(English) Episode 232-Classifying the Chaos of Meniscal Tears

This research article investigates the interobserver reliability of the ISAKOS classification system for documenting meniscal tears. The study sought to determine if different surgeons across the globe could consistently categorize tear characteristics, which is a vital requirement for combining data in international clinical trials. Results indicated that while surgeons achieved substantial agreement on tear patterns and basic locations, they only reached moderate or fair agreement on complex metrics like rim width and tissue quality. Ultimately, the authors conclude that the ISAKOS system is a sufficiently reliable tool for standardized surgical documentation.
