Researchers utilized MRI technology to examine the relationship between the anterior displacement of the talus and range of motion restrictions caused by pain. The findings revealed a positive correlation, suggesting that a talus positioned further forward significantly reduces a patient's ability to flex the ankle. Interestingly, the presence of an anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL) tear did not appear to impact these specific measurements. Consequently, the authors suggest that posterior mobilization of the talus may be an effective clinical treatment for restoring movement after such injuries.
