(English) Episode 279-How much shoulder pain is actually okay
from Health Physio+ · host Arthromainpod
This scoping review investigates how pain-related instructions are utilized during resistance exercise for patients with rotator cuff related shoulder pain. Researchers analyzed 86 clinical trials, finding that 67% of these studies failed to report any specific parameters regarding pain during treatment. The remaining literature displayed significant variety in how clinicians monitor discomfort, ranging from strict avoidance of pain to allowing it based on individual tolerance. Most current practices appear to be pragmatic rather than evidence-based, as few studies provided a scientific justification for their chosen pain limits. Consequently, the authors call for standardized reporting and further research to determine the most effective ways to manage pain during rehabilitation.(Raulline Ullern K, Richardsen M, Weerasekara I, Bogen BE.
