(English) Episode 56-Decoding Rotator Cuff Calcific Tendinopathy - What the Science REALLY Says About Non-Surgical Fixes

from Health Physio+ · host Arthromainpod

Calcific tendinopathy of the shoulder is a relatively common condition, characterized by the presence of calcium deposits in the shoulder tendons, which may be associa- ted with shoulder pain and dysfunction. To help guide the most appropriate treatment and future research in the area, a thorough review of the best available research was conducted. Overall, it was found that there is a lack of high-quality research in this area. Based on the current research, high-energy shockwave therapy and ultrasound-guided needling appear to be the best treatment options available for reducing shoulder pain, improving shoulder function and reducing the size of calcium deposits in the shoulder tendons. However, with out further high-quality research in this area, it is not possible to inform people seeking care which is the best management option.(Simpson M, Pizzari T, Cook T, Wildman S, Lewis J.
