Ep 014- Upgrading Protools, Using Source Connect

Oh myyyy! What an episode. THIS is what it's like in the hallway of our studio. So go stand next to your coffeepot like we do when we're doing these huge eye-rolling geek-outs, and join us for another episode of The Voice Recording Bootcamp Podcast. First up, poltergeist plumbing at Scott's house. Solution! Good information from experts in the field. And the right tools. Hint hint... https://www.vrbootcamp.com/ Deb updates her ProTools. Comedy ensues when her Mac Operating system and audio box all have to be replaced too. The journey from her long loved Digidesign 003 to a bright shiny Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 https://focusrite.com/usb-audio-interface/scarlett/scarlett-18i8 We have a new editor! Which is so awesome because we figure we can give you info all day long, but what slows us down is editing our own voices. Erin McGee to the rescue. Erin is a recent grad of the Art Institute in San Diego, where Deb once taught. And on that note... DRAMAAAA!!!! Art Institute students this month went to class only to find the doors locked. Forever. Mid-semester. Deb tells all... And we're working across the pond! Six one hour specials for National Geographic with Nat Geo Explorer Albert Lin. https://video.nationalgeographic.com/video/00000144-0a29-d3cb-a96c-7b2d5e670000 Albert was in the studio with us, while the post houses in London directed the sessions and recorded the audio remotely using Source Connect Pro. https://source-elements.com/products/source-connect And a question from former Voice Recording Bootcamp student prompts a discussion on rates, usage and pricing of your voice over work. Here are some of the sources you might want to keep up with: https://www.world-voices.org https://globalvoiceacademy.com Dave Courvoisier voice over blog https://courvo.com/blog And a new combination online / live in the studio class coming up. Starting in May 2019. Good times. Love, Deb and Scott
