EP 128 The Energy of Money

from Spirituality for leaders · host Ange de Lumiere

Is money good or bad? In this episode, I explore what we attach to money and what we make it into. I have an interesting background because on my dad's side they came from money whereas on my mum's side they were working class. This has given me a rich tapestry to observe people's beliefs and attitudes towards money. Perhaps this has led to me seeing that money in itself is neutral. How people see and use money, however, isn't. We need to observe every belief we have around money and question it to we can free ourselves from the bond we have with it. Money likes to flow, like water. In and out. When we try to stop it from moving, we are going against its nature. What I have realised when I lost my career as a lawyer is that certain professions have a relationship with money that differs broadly from other professions. When I was a lawyer, I felt secure in my relationship with money and didn't think I had money mindset issues. And yet I did. I deflected money by giving it away as if I didn't deserve it. I invite you to listen to EP 28 that explores the question of whether it is a spiritual thing to help others. The moment I became an artist and a healer, my relationship with money changed entirely. It felt like with the job came a poverty consciousness that I never realised was there, which derives from the myth of the starving artist. That poverty consciousness found a part in me that I didn't even knew existed, that doubted my own self worth. It took me years to shift that part of me. My invitation in this episode is to challenge your beliefs around money and change your relationship to money. When you come across a belief around money, use the four questions of the work, by Byron Katie, to challenge that belief. Go back to EP 97 to see how the process works. And conclude the exercise by writing a letter to money.
