Ep 13 – Alyssa Cesarini – Empowering Nannies, Children and Parents

Alyssa Cesarini is disrupting the nanny industry with her approach to evaluating, training and placing nannies. As a former nanny herself, a child psychology major and having received a Masters in Counseling, Alyssa is uniquely qualified to understand the needs of children, parents and nannies. She is on a mission to find the right nanny for a family the first time, and ensure that relationship lasts over time. Her approach emphasizes children’s developmental needs, ensures nannies are treated fairly, and her personalized service assures she makes the best matches possible. In this episode we talk about her start in New York after college, and her early disillusionment with her first job in PR. After her stint in PR, she went back to school to get a BA in Psychology. Around the same time a friend reached out to see if she would be interested in nannying for Yankee’s pitcher CC Sabathia’s family.  So Alyssa agreed, spent time with his kids and saw the challenges they faced. She was sold, and they were too. Alyssa stepped beyond the fear of no experience, inspired by the children and their parents, and accepted their offer.  For the next five years she worked with their four children, one of whom had special needs, while getting first her Bachelor’s in Psychology and then a Master’s in Counseling. After some traumatizing experiences with nanny placement agencies after leaving the Sabathia family, Alyssa realized that the industry was driven by money, and not children’s best interests.
