EP 143 - SUPERMAN RETURNS (2006)
THIS MOVIE IS OUR KRYPTONITE. For many years after Superman IV, WB had struggled to get a new take on the Man of Steel off the ground. From Tim Burton's Superman Lives to J.J. Abrams' Superman: Flyby, nothing seemed to stick. It was only at the tail-end of the latter's existence that they decided to make a "direct" sequel to Superman II, with everyone recast and still taking place in modern day. What resulted was a movie that felt like it was written with melatonin for ink. Somebody save us. Come join Brian and Alec as they wrap up the Supermanathon with the movie that very may well have caused the public to be bored with the big blue boy scout -- SUPERMAN RETURNS!
