"I HAD A DATE." With the road to Avengers all but cleared, there was one character left to introduce before the biggest crossover movie of all time -- the leader. AKA ODIN GETS CRITICIZED ONCE AND DIES. Lukewarm off the heels of The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man 2, Marvel's path towards The Avengers got a little rocky. The film was delayed by a year, and they had to hunker down on their last two establishing films beforehand. First up was the God of Thunder, arguably their biggest dice roll in casting then-unknowns Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston. The end result was a film that, while not entirely lightning in a bottle, captured audiences in ways they wouldn't entirely realize until the year after. So, how does it hold up? WOW, LOOK! NOTHING! In the very, VERY early days of the MCU, Kevin was trying to get the various studios that had the rights to Marvel's biggest characters to cooperate with him and Marvel Studios in building his interconnected universe. One that seemed to join him at the start was Universal, as the two worked together to create a new Hulk movie. While nothing seemed to really go wrong, one could say it's clear from the final product why they haven't come together again. HERO OR SIDEKICK?As we all know, the 2000's were something of a renaissance when it came to superhero adaptations, all culminating with the golden age that started with The Avengers in 2012. What many people didn't often discuss were the myriad of satires and pastiches that appeared around then that had no clue how ahead of their time they would be. From Kirkman's Invincible to Mazin's Superhero Movie, lots of different things were already taking tropes we knew of and turning them on their heads. In 2005, Disney sought to do the same on a family-friendly level. While it may not have been a smash hit, it certainly left an impact on a lot of us. IT'S WORSE THAN YOU THINK. 2020 was a strange time. We all stayed in our homes. Brian and Alec were doing a different show. And movies were struggling to find new ways to get made. One blooming subgenre, Screenlife, was poised by producer Timur Bekmambetov over the years as the evolution of found footage. With lockdown seemingly indefinite, he was tasked by Universal to prove that this subgenre had enough mileage in it to navigate this unforeseeable future. The resulting film was so historically awful that it came out five years later on Amazon prime after just six days of marketing. Oh boy. One of these was a silver screen adaptation of Blue Beetle, and many didn't know what to think of it when going in. While the film has had its fiar share of detractors, it has proven to be one of the very few bright spots of the previous era, with pushes being made to include it in the DCU going forward. DANCE WITH THE DEVIL. Ryan Coogler has been one of the hottest names in the directing world for the past decade, and for the first time since his freshman outing, he has released a wholly original film. Sinners has been hailed as an instant-classic since its release in April, and it's time for us to dive in. "SAY THAT AGAIN..." After Rise of the Silver Surfer failed to captivate audiences, future plans with the 00's iteration of Marvel's First Family fizzled out. Thus, Josh Trank was brought on board to reboot the franchise with a more modern and serious edge. What resulted was what many consider to be one of the worst comic book films of all time. Oh, boy. "I'M GONNA NEED THERAPY." Kevin Feige's full attempt at making the first good movie about Marvel's First Family releases in one week, so it's time to look back at prior attempts. The 00's were not kind to most comic book characters when it came to movies, and the F4 were no exception. While many remain nostalgic for these films, even going as far as saying nothing can top their cast, they boast a whole lot of issues that were the style at the time, and it's time to dig into each and every one. So, come join Brian, Alec, and Trey (@HeyGuysItSpidey) as they take a look at the goofy, derivative, and bizarrely misogynistic (to the point of Jessica Alba nearly quitting acting) FANTASTIC FOUR and FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER!

THIS MOVIE IS OUR KRYPTONITE. For many years after Superman IV, WB had struggled to get a new take on the Man of Steel off the ground. From Tim Burton's Superman Lives to J.J. Abrams' Superman: Flyby, nothing seemed to stick. It was only at the tail-end of the latter's existence that they decided to make a "direct" sequel to Superman II, with everyone recast and still taking place in modern day. What resulted was a movie that felt like it was written with melatonin for ink. Somebody save us. AKA CAVEMAN SUPERMAN: ORIGINS. After the ludicrously underwhelming Superman III, Christopher Reeve swore off the tights forever. However, a script for a fourth installment, one that would touch on topics he was passionate about, convinced him to give it another shot. What resulted was one of the most poorly-made and maligned comic book movies of all time. But we'd like to ask -- is it truly that bad? THE BEGINNING OF BAD COMIC BOOK MOVIES! The troubled production of Superman II would only herald a beginning of wrong choices made with the character. Despite the success of the first two and what made them work, this film decided to shift gears and focus on the aspects not many people cared for. You know what they (Brian) say about bad DC movies. THE MOVIE SPIDER-MAN 2 OWED EVERYTHING TO! Superman: The Movie was generational. So much so that Donner and the Salkinds saw it preemptively and had a sequel made in tandem with the first! Unfortunately, despite the promise of a release the year after, the highly-anticipated sequel was delayed to 1980 in light of Donner being fired and a lot of the movie being reshot. After many years and public demand, his cut wouldn't release until 2006, making do with camera tests and newly-shot footage to fill out the blank spots. So, how did it fare? However, a worldwide pandemic, numerous delays, a whole lot of money over the initial budget, and a bad release window kept things from rocketing off immediately.
