The DYOJO Podcast Episode 15 - No risk = no reward with Denis Beaulieu of Alliance Environmental   Denis has a broad base of experience from taking on new challenges. He started as a carpet and upholstery technician working for The Hudson’s Bay company in Canada. Like so many, he found himself thrown into a leadership role and had to discover for himself the best ways to lead people and build a business.   When he moved to California he entered the property restoration industry at the time when the mantra was, “Mold is gold.” Tasked with building a mold remediation division within an existing cleaning and water damage restoration company in Southern California.    Denis shares his insights on how he has approached both his own professional development as well as his unique perspectives on building opportunities for the members of your team to grow along with your organization.    Three key lessons that Denis shares are:   You can learn to do anything. Denis’ mom told him, “What do you have to lose?” Which he adapted into the mindset of no risk = no reward.    The greatest gift you can give your team as a manager / leader is to have a clear sense of your identity - know your strengths and staff around your weaknesses (create opportunities for others to strengthen the team).   It is so much more effective to find people with relevant experience and character than people who have industry experience who bounce from company to company.
