EP 27: Abnormal Embryos Make Healthy Babies - Fact or Fiction?

from My Fertology · host Mary Wong, R.TCMP & Dr. Tanya Wylde, ND

EP 27: Abnormal Embryos Make Healthy Babies - Fact or Fiction? Subtitle What you should know about IVF genetic testing ( PGT-A)  Do you need genetic testing on IVF embryos? It’s difficult enough to embark on an IVF (In-Vitro Fertilization) journey, let alone decide what “add ons'' you need to have to get your baby… faster.  To minimize overwhelm and confusion, we are taking a close look at a recently published article from the NY Times so that you can make an informed choice without regret.   The message, according to the article, is that chromosomal testing (PGT-A) is bad for patients because healthy babies have been born from abnormal embryos … supposedly. Yet, fertility clinics continue to recommend PGT-A which costs thousands of dollars. WHY? There has to be something we are missing…  To get to the bottom of this, we invited our dear friend and trusted fertility specialist, Dr. Prati Sharma and geneticist Nicole Logan, to break down the original scientific paper by Dr. Norbert Gleicher that NY Times is referring to.   It turns out the so-called “Abnormal Embryos” that became babies were mainly Mosaic embryos… meaning they were not abnormal.  It’s more accurate to say, Mosaic embryos can make healthy babies.  The lesson is don’t choose to test (or not test) based on what you read…. which may be sensationalized or partial truths. Learn from us and dig deeper. This convo is too juicy to skip.  For Social media: Go to My Fertology podcast in link in bio to get the real deal before you make an informed decision.  Share this important information with friends and loved ones.
