EP:28 - (Part 1) Jaryd Terkelsen, Co-Founder of BYS Coffee: Built for Performance, Fuelled by Mistakes: The Real Story Behind Before You Speak Coffee

Two blokes from Queensland turned turmeric coffee into a multi-million dollar brand. But the journey? Not as sexy as the headlines make it out to be. In this episode of Top of Mind, Jaryd Terkelsen—co-founder of performance coffee brand Before You Speak—gets brutally honest about startup life, $200k mistakes, the myth of freedom in entrepreneurship, and why the wrong business model can cost you millions. In this episode we unpack: Why influencer marketing didn’t work (at first) The real cost of launching a product-based business Finding the right manufacturing partner (after a few expensive lessons) What happens when your ingredients get banned Why “millions in revenue” ≠ millions in your bank account And how signing an F1 driver changed everything for their brand If you’re building a brand or dreaming of launching a product, this episode will either hype you up or talk you out of it.
