EP 33 - Healthy Life Hacks
from The Body's Compass · host Matt Sorensen
Delving into the world of life hacks which, are a strategy or technique adopted in order to manage time and daily activities in a more efficient way. Health hacks are a 'do it yourself' form of health enhancement, in an attempt to change aspects of biology to improve your health, performance, and/or well-being. This week, we discuss the different types of health hacks prescribed to patients and ourselves to make our lives a little easier. Bone broth - In TCM Chicken broth is seen to be more nourishing for a weakened digestion, where as beef bone broth would be chosen for its overall skin nourishment (due to high collagen levels) hence it has a better immune support function. The issue that The Priestess was talking about was the ‘glutamate’ level. This is actually higher in smaller animals such as turkey or chicken. Glutamate is an excitatory neurotransmitter which when consumed through food does have a positive impact on calming and sleep. However, if consumed in too high amounts it can cause an overuse tolerance. Meaning, you need more to get the same result and in the meantime it is likely to increase your chances of anxiety or depression. Bean protocol diet - The lady’s name was Karen Hurd who’s child was poisoned and therefore came up with the “bean protocol diet”.
