Welcome to the "Militarily Speaking" podcast with Tom McLean and Jodi Vickery. In this episode of “Militarily Speaking,” Tom, Jodi, and guest Robin Kelleher, Co-Founder and CEO of Hope For The Warriors, discuss how Hope For The Warriors provides financial education, scholarships, internships, and employment opportunities to service members and their families. “Militarily Speaking” is a podcast produced by Armed Forces Bank that is dedicated to the military lifestyle and all the things that makes the military community who they are. Ep. 33 – Hope For The Warriors with Robin Kelleher Robin Kelleher, the CEO and co-founder of Hope For The Warriors, shared her extensive background, including her entrepreneurship, leadership, and passion that have led the organization to success. Hope For The Warriors was founded in 2006 by military spouses who wanted to provide comprehensive support programs for service members, veterans, and military families. The organization is focused on transition, health and wellness, peer engagement, and connections to community resources. She tells the story of how they got started with an event to bring the community together. Supporting Military Spouses and Families Robin explains how the organization has been providing scholarships, internships and employment opportunities to military spouses for over 16 years. She also explores how the organization has evolved over the years, noting that since they are actively involved in the community, they are able to be on the pulse of what is needed most. This led the organization to address the challenges of post-traumatic stress and the stigma around mental health. Robin adds that if we can help solve those issues in the military community, the general public would also benefit. She explains how there is past precedence of this, where findings amongst the military community have led to better outcomes for the civilian population. Podcast Launch and Impactful Stories Robin also notes that their organization has launched a new podcast that helps further their mission to serve service members and their families. Hope For The Warriors has been providing support to the military community for 16 years, addressing food insecurity, home insecurity, and employment. The organization has raised $75 million, but Robin stresses that they can always use further support, and tells the listeners how they can get involved to provide meaningful support.
