from Don't Be Caged By Your Age · host Ande Lyons
“I believe that legacy is not what you leave when you're gone, but rather what you live every single day.”In 1995 our guest, Barbara Greenspan Shaiman, founded Champions of Caring, an organization dedicated to empowering youth to become social activists. Thirty years later, the organization has worked with over 10,000 high school students, inspiring them to contribute over 1 million hours of service locally, nationally, and globally. Today at 76, Barbara is actively working on a documentary, "The Coral Ring Legacy," which further spreads her message of positive social change. This documentary, inspired by her mother’s “Mench Test” and a family heirloom with a powerful story, highlights the long-term impact of Champions of Caring and promotes intergenerational collaboration for social good.Throughout our conversation you can hear how Barbara’s life is informed by the lessons of resilience, kindness, and social action instilled by her parents, both Holocaust survivors.Barbara uses The Mench Test to challenge herself and others to act with kindness and compassion daily. She believes everyone can make a difference through small, meaningful actions.I know this episode will inspire you to live your legacy now!Visit championsofcaring.org, watch the "Coral Ring Legacy" trailer, and please contribute to the organization's mission. If you found inspiration from this conversation, please rate, review and share this episode.I’d love to hear your thoughts, so be sure to hop on over to Don’t Be Caged By Your Age on LinkedIn or Instagram. Here are two products I use and genuinely recommend:🚶♀️ Favorite Walking Pad – I use it almost every day while watching my favorite shows. It's quiet, easy to store, and makes getting more steps simple and enjoyable.🥤 Favorite Protein Powder – Getting enough protein becomes even more important as we age. This is my go-to because it's easy to digest, delivers 25g of protein per serving, and supports healthy muscles and bones.Waving from Boston – cheers!Ande ♥CONNECT with me online - I'd love to learn how you're shattering ageism!https://www.linkedin.com/in/andelyons/ https://www.instagram.com/dontbecagedbyyourageSPONSORSHIPIf you resonate with the show’s mission of shattering ageism and age-related expectations so folks can thrive after 65, please reach out to me to learn more about making an impact throug...
