Rebecca Carpenter is the director and writer on REQUIEM FOR A RUNNING BACK, a documentary feature film in which daughter turns detective when World Champion running back Lew Carpenter is posthumously diagnosed with CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy). In raw and uncensored interviews filmed over three years, she revisits the football world of her childhood to piece together her memory of her father and his football career through this new lens. As her film progresses, CTE hits the national arrives, and Carpenter finds herself in the middle of a misunderstood public health crisis concerning brain injury, dementia, and its grisly demands on families and caregivers. Carpenter has worked over three decades in film, television, and as a communications strategist and producer, in addition to her advocacy work to bring arts and athletics to marginalized populations. She is a painter, biological mother, stepmother, sister, daughter, and wife whose life is dedicated to understanding the complexity of our most universal human drive to connect.
