This shook the scientific establishment, which had assumed the universe was eternal. But 1,400 years earlier, the Quran stated in chapter 21, verse 30 that the heavens and earth were "joined together" before being "split apart." This episode examines what modern cosmology and the Quran agree on — and asks the question science cannot answer: what caused the beginning?
