Ep. 4: When The Baby Doesn't Come Home: Birth Trauma & Loss
from The Birth Trauma Mama Podcast · host Kayleigh Summers
"At least you have a healthy baby, that's all that matters" We've all heard it before. But, what if you don't have a healthy baby? What if during your traumatic birth your baby also died? Erica Zaldivar, LMFT, joins me to discuss loss after birth trauma. Her daughter, Verity, died at 13 days old in the NICU due to a birth injury in March 2021. Erica has since used her training as a therapist and her lived experience to create a wonderful support community for loss families. Erica and I discuss her birth with Verity, having to live when your child doesn't, and our concerns with biased information in the birth education space. You can find Erica on Instagram @travelingwithgrief For more birth trauma content and a community full of love and support, head to my Instagram at @thebirthtrauma_mama.Learn more about the support and services I offer through The Birth Trauma Mama Therapy & Support Services.Disclaimer - The views and opinions expressed by guests on The Birth Trauma Mama Podcast are their own and do not necessarily reflect the official stance, views, or positions of The Birth Trauma Mama Podcast.
