Ep.42 | Artist Jade Ching-Yuk Ng on the impact of Russian mosaics, escapism, and character proximity.

from The Last Supper - Art in Asia · host Oscar Venhuis

In this episode I met with London-based artist Jade who is in Hong Kong for her first show. Our conversation centred around her experience of being back in Hong Kong after 3 years, how her trip to Russia and the Eastern Bloc countries made a lasting impression on her work, we talked about what Jade meant by character proximity and ended our conversation with her current solo show GUSH. Jade Ching-Yuk Ng obtained her BA at Slade School of Fine Art in 2016 and MA at Royal College of Art in 2018. She is a recipient of Cass Art Painting Prize in 2016 and Travers Smith Art Award in 2018. She was awarded the Abbey Major Painting Scholarship by the British School at Rome in 2018. Her work was commented on and published by art historians Katy Hessel and Kate Mothes respectively. She worked at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in 2014.
