Herbert Harper, Jr. is a Chicago native who has acted in theatre, television, film, and digital media productions. Herbert developed an interest in the arts early in life and participated in the chorus of Dear Edwina as a student at Vanderpoel Humanities Academy. He would later further explore his love of the arts while doing productions with Expressions Theatre Troupe and the Armory Free Theatre and singing with the University of Illinois Black Chorus and Varsity Men's Glee Club as a student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has since acted in various shorts, independent films, feature films, and web series, including For Better (Nominated for 11 awards and recipient of Best Web and New Media at the 2019 Indie Short Fest; Official selection for the Kaleidoscope LGBTQ+ Film Festival), The Comedy Club (Official selection for the Shawnee Shorts Midwestern Film Festival, the Portland Comedy Film Festival, and the Austin Micro Short Film Festival), Pointe Work (Official selection of the Reel East Texas Film Festival), Spike Lee’s Chi-Raq, and most recently, Chicago Med on NBC. Herbert holds a Bachelor of Science in Advertising and is the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards, including The Posse Foundation Scholarship and The Horatio Alger Association Scholarship.
