Shame, Denial, Hope, Courage & Speaking OutMadeleine Black is an author, speaker, sexual violence activist, psychotherapist and podcaster.Tragically - at the age of 13 Madeleine was raped and tortured by two men.  She chose to forgive them, and after decades of silence, decided to speak out. Following the sharing of her story publicly on The Forgiveness Project’s website in 2014 she was approached by numerous women - and men - saying that reading her story gave them strength, hope, and a different perspective of what’s possible in their lives.  She has shared her story on TV, radio, at conferences, book events, schools and more.  In 2017 she published her memoir ‘Unbroken’. In 2018 she won the Amazing Strength award at the No. 1 Magazine Amazing Women Awards and later that year was asked to be the Patron for Say Women, a Scottish organisation offering safe accommodation and support to young women survivors of sexual abuse/rape who are homeless.  She is one of 50 Thrivers working with The Global Resilience Project to develop a resilience blueprint for others.  She is a two times TEDx speaker, a story teller for The Forgiveness Project and shares her story in prisons with their programme RESTORE.  In 2020, she was asked to be Patron for Justice Is Now, working to end the use of rape myths and victim blaming in the criminal justice system.
