A prominent advocate for school choice, he has held leadership roles in several high-performing charter networks, including LEAD Public Schools and Rocketship Education, which serve thousands of students in underserved communities.In addition to his policy work, Mitchell is an adjunct professor at Belmont University, where he teaches American Government and Constitutional Law. He is deeply involved in civic discourse, serving as the former chair of the Tennessee State Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights and hosting the Come Together Music Project, an initiative that uses shared musical experiences to bridge ideological and socio-economic divides.Mitchell holds a Juris Doctorate from Wake Forest University School of Law and is a Fellow of the Aspen Institute's Civil Society Fellowship. He lives in Nashville with his wife and three daughters.
