A brutal gang war is raging in Haiti. More than 20,000 people have been killed, and tens of thousands more have been forced to flee their homes. The worsening violence is being fuelled by years of political instability, corruption, poverty, and an abundance of firearms flowing into the country. Rival gangs, once sworn enemies, are joining forces to mount a politically violent push for power over the country. Police and politicians in Port-au-Prince, Haiti's capital, are losing control and turning to private military contractors in a desperate bid to combat the gang's growing influence.
