EP. 644『＠水戸、其ノ三 - アトリウムでいただくフカヒレそば』

笠間を巡った後、水戸プラザホテルに到着したのは夜8時過ぎでした。ホテルは発明王トーマス・エジソンの曾孫が設計したもの。ガラス張りの屋根から光が降り注ぐ大きなアトリウムが特徴です。2001年に完成した館内には緑があふれ、19世紀ロンドンのクリスタルパレスを思わせる空間が広がっています。宿泊した部屋には屋外ジャグジーが備えられ、満月を眺めながら過ごすことができました。夕食は館内の四川飯店で、名物の「三種具入りフカヒレのとろみそば」を味わいました。この料理は目当てに訪れる人も多く、陳建民さんの「料理は愛情」という教えを受け継ぐ総料理長によって提供されています。水戸光圀の学問における「仁」、人に光を届ける建築としてのアトリウム、そして人を温かく満たす料理が重なり、水戸の歴史や文化とともに食を楽しみました。
