Ep. #7 Why It's Good Business to Invest in the NWHL, ft. Anya Packer

from The Business Case For Women's Sports · host Caroline Fitzgerald, Anya Packer

In Ep. #7, Caroline sits down with Anya Packer, the Executive Director of the National Women’s Hockey League Players’ Association.  In advance of the 2021 NWHL Playoffs & Isobel Cup Championships, Caroline & Anya discuss why it’s good business to invest in women’s hockey - and the right thing to do in terms of gender equality. As the head of the NWHLPA, Anya serves as the voice of the players. In 2019, she negotiated a glass-shattering collective bargaining agreement with the NWHL, to have 50% of all sponsor-related revenues go directly to player salaries. In her role, Anya is also involved with every new NWHL sponsorship call, and works to bring in new partnerships to grow the league, and therefore close the gender pay gap in professional hockey. This episode is proudly presented by Legend Rings: The Official Championship Ring Provider of the 2021 NWHL Isobel Cup.Learn more about Legend Rings. More from GOALS Subscribe: Email sign-upTwitter: @goals_sports_Instagram: @goals_sports_Podcast Merch: goals-sports.com/purplemugEmail: [email protected]
